It is as powerful as it sounds and more so when you go full throttle. The 250 definitely screams. I have had mine for twenty years and still ripping today. They definitely are a beast of a trimmer/ brushcutter.

Take good care of this machine and it will take care of you. I managed the grounds for a horse stable that consisted of seven pasture areas, two barnes, out door riding arena, flowers beds, house, large garage and lots of trees. After the break in period it has been ran hard all day long all week long and has been running for twenty years and still ripping today. After the break in period this trimmer can take full throttle and take on anything you put the cutter to. The string head can take tall grass and thick weeds up to thistle. With one of the many brush blades available it can take out brush and saplings up to three inches in diameter no problem. Fair warning wasps, yellow jackets and hornets absolutely hate the sound of this machine. If you get stung once get out of there fast because the rest of the nest will follow suite and will lite you up. It's horrible!! I talk from experience. And yes they will sting everywhere imaginable. I call my FS-250R the leveler.

Really powerfull trimmer ! In 2014 I used an older FS 450 Brushcutter / Clearing saw, the engine looks the same but has a bit more power and it has the bike handle, it cuts everything down. Hope that you are lucky with your FS 250, I really like the engines from Stihl.

+Der Rasenhaer, Yup, the 450 is has the same engine as the 250, just bored to 48cc because it's a clearing saw. I'm very lucky to have that awesome Stihl, too bad they discontinued it
@derrasenmaher97308 жыл бұрын
Jon3800 Yes it is too bad, the new FS 360 is good but not so reliable and the FS 460 that replaces the FS 450 has the engine with "M-Tronic" with really have trouble sometimes. I like these older engines. Easy to repair and they are reliable.

i know, not a fan of those
@derrasenmaher97308 жыл бұрын
Jon3800 I think that Stihl should take a step back to these engines like on your FS 250

Was there a wasp nest in there or just a lot of wasps? Good machine, it did a nice job taking down that jungle of weeds.
@Jon38008 жыл бұрын
+WestCoastArachnids No nest but a LOT of wasps lol. Ya that machine is fantastic. Best $600 I spent LOL

+Jon3800 I used to assemble and repair lawn equipment for John Deer back in the 80's when I was in my teens. Love the gas powered trimmers.

Adam, On the fence on this one. They just made their way to Canadian soil this morning (my dealer just received them) and they're about $700 CAN for one. I'll likely get one next spring.
