Stihl MS 181C Easy Start Chainsaw Overview and Maintenance How to

Got an opportunity to work on this Stihl MS 181C Easy Start Chainsaw so I figured I might as well do a video review of it and show how to do some routine maintenance. Not a bad little Homeowner saw😊

I had the easy start ms250c well i got rid of the c part and made it like a normal saw! Much better for me!

My old man bought himself that saw when starting a saw became more difficult for him. Gave hime the ability to cut some wood occasionally in his golden years. Cordless electric saws weren't really a thing back then but would probably be a better option now.

Wife wanted a saw she could start bought the 181 C. She loves it. I was told at the time I bought it that the primer bulb was not to prime but 3:39 to clear air in lines to help start when I questioned why a primer. Don’t know for sure but always used by wife when starting. Be safe and be careful.

Good vid! I was laughing when you were talking about the starter. I bought a Stihl MS 250C off a guy a while back, I thought it had no compression because of the easy start. It's a weird feeling when you pull the starter rope. I don't know if I'll ever get used to it...

I use a MS 180c quite often in my landscaping business as my "go-to" saw. I see a few differences such as having a primer bulb (none needed on the 180c), a different air filter ( the 180c has a washable one) and the flip caps for oil and gas. Any advantages to the 181c?

Yeah probably not much advantage, basically the same saw as far as I can tell, with a few different features as you pointed out 😊

Whats been your best success to restoring spark to an older stihl 031 or 032. Thanks your info will be greatly appreciated. I know you know your saws! Trying to get spark on a very clean 032. Ordered an aftermarket coil and still no spark. Its an AVE.Thanks

A buddy gave me a almost brand new one because he hated the easy start. I hated it too. Just sold it last week.

Haha! Yeah makes me wonder how long it holds up, I guess you can put a regular starter on them, lol😉
