kinda funny that the most expensive saw money can buy with fuel injection is slower than an old 90's saw...

Ca cele old , simplitatea motorului , evacuării , cuplu și tot ce trebuie .... Nu se mai face de mulți ani . Nici x torque, nici injecțiile , nici nimic . Poate un plus nesemnificativ la viteză , dar cuplu, durabilitatea de old nu va mai fi niciodată la fel . Piesele care te țineau o viață și construcția simpla a motorului iar au complicato rău de tot și de-acolo apar și defecțiuni premature cum bine știi tu meștere , Totul a devenit comercial . Doar câștigul sa fie .... Calitatea și durabilitatea nu mai interesează pe mulți fabricanți. Te felicit ca de obicei și îți urez toate cele bune!

Delightful to see them in action especially when 80's chainsaw takes the first place. I don't dislike the 500i and i am sure it's a good chainsaw but this tells us that technology was indeed reinvented and not necessarily advanced. Best regards Dorin

Until you consider, weight, elevation an vibration. I love old huskies but elevation will change the results. Weight will change how long you can work and vibration will effect your hands when you try to sleep that night.

@@bfw523 I totally agree but let's not forget the 30+years difference between them I still consider that new saws in terms of power are not really to impress and again I commented on power, also weight of 281not excessive as they designed it on 268,272 little bit bigger case. I don't knock down new saws but old ones are still keeping up with.

I absolutely agree. The 500i does have an amazing power to weight ration and powerhead wise, does weigh a whole pound or so less than the 281. But the cost difference between the two, I would definitely go get a 281 first. Cheers

The 500i just doesn't impress me. The money and technology in them to keep up with 40 year old saws. I've ran my 281xp against my friends 500i with almost identical results. My $250 heavily ported g372 clone will make 2 cuts to his 1 lol.

Buna ziua ,V-am scris de vreo 2 ani despre modelul de husqvarna 281 și 288 pe cind nu aveați modelele astea și V-am spus sa încercați ,,am aceste modele de 15 ani in prezent nu este husqvarna mai bune ca astea,,am 9 bucăți din astea,,multa sanatate,

I first started falling timber with a 281XP in 1988, running full comp chain and 36" bar. Fell timber for 6 hours a day for 14 months with it, then used it for a back up. Then I went to Stihl O64 saws and it was a backup saw. 4 years later I went in the Coast Guard for 3 years to fly on rescue helicopters and gave the Husky to my father in law. I got out of the Coast Guard and went to work for him falling timber with my old 281. I fell timber for 6 more months with it, and the oiler quit. The shop loaned us a demo 394XP and we bought it, but when we got back the 281 it went to landing duty. Still on the same piston. The only downside was the vibration. That's what originally made me switch to Stihls, but the new Huskys are now very smooth. Recently bought a new 390XP.
