Stihl RZ552 First Oil Change

This video documents my first oil change on the Stihl RZ552 at 5 hours. It shows what worked, what didn't work, and what would, I think, help to make it go better.

I slid the hose out of the metal loop, fed it through a small circular cutout in the frame and dropped the used oil. Great mower, very fast!

I purchased a RZ142 and its about the same thing, only I used a oil filter cap that takes a socket wrench and the filter came right off. And my oil drain is long enough to drain into a pan. The only thing I wish there was more of a downward pitch under the filter so the oil dripping could drain easier. My oil change took 15 minutes to do, Stihl must have improved a little bit.

I have the RZ552K. 3 hours on it. I’ve only mowed once. I haven’t seen when the first oil change is.

The manual calls for the first oil change at 5 hours. Some think that’s not necessary. I’m taking no chances.

What a terrible design! Could they make it any more difficult?
