I was looking for a lightweight blower for my deck. kzbin.infoUgkxgioZQl3J5wPGAeDINzbieKbT5qomSEx3 There are some huge trees around my house and the leaves and pods drop all over my deck. Having to move furniture around to sweep has become too big a chore. This blower was the answer. It is light enough for this 70yr old lady and powerful enough to blow all the tree droppings off my rather large deck. Thank you B&D. Be aware the cord is not included. I use a 3 prong outdoor cord 25' cord for my 12' x 20' deck. The cord retainer works very well, but don't try to pass the plug through it. That is NOT how it works. You just have to loop the cord and it works great. One of my best purchases. Very happy.

All the Manufacturers know these vacuum shredders are looser ideas and only help homeowners to spend a pile of money and entire weekends sucking leafs.You’d be 3x faster mowing and bagging them with your mower.Spend your money on a second hand backpack blower instead.

Really helpful video, Ryan. My new machine didn't come with an instruction page or booklet, so I wanted to confirm how to release the orange side cover without snapping something off! You demonstrated it well. We don't have so many leaves in autumn here in Australia, but enough to use a few times. Mostly it is light, yet powerful blower.

Just a tip; You would never spend the time to suck up an entire pile of leaves like this. You would simply rake them up. This device is for removing leaves etc. from flower beds or hard to rake places, thus saving you the trouble of crawling around on your knees or stooping over for long periods. I just ordered one of these today, $300 (includes the 9.5% tax here).
@mx5luke Жыл бұрын
But a rake doesnt shred the leaves. For me, the shredder saves the need for a wheelbarrow, and reduces composting time for the veggie patch!

The plastic cover on the impeller is spring loaded so once you unlock it, make sure to hold it open otherwise it will shut close and you need to insert the screwdriver again. This a a great blower for light to medium/light work. I have an older model for several years now and it always starts on the 3rd pull from a cold engine. I've even used it to blow powder snow off the sidewalk. Just bought a new one for my son-in-law. It was the SH 56C.

Something nobody mentions is that when using the vacuum in a flower bed then the fan housing can become choked with sticky damp soil. It's an easy fix: unfastening the surrounding eight screws releases the top half of the fan housing giving access to a thorough cleaning job. My concern is whether, by not keeping an eye on this potential problem and keeping the airflow at a max, the machine could overheat and so disastrously fail...

It would be great if you could comment on the volume of leaves per full bag. In other words, you had a reasonable pile of leaves but the video switched to you emptying the bag. Were you able to vacuum/shred that entire pile that you showed? What about the ease or lack of ease in emptying the bag? Lots of dust in your eyes and upper airways or not? Lastly, what about items like acorns; plenty of them here in Oregon, and small twigs. Will this end up requiring replacement of blades? I doubt if most people have 100% leaves without some additional stuff to vacuum. Video was well done. If you make another be sure to speak a lot louder when you have the machine operating. I want to hear ALL that you have to share.
@ibgreen2469 жыл бұрын
+Stephen Strum Let me try and answer some of your questions I had to empty the bag twice. The bag can hold 1.5 cu. ft. = 1.2 bushel. With anything that shreds leaves their will be dust… So if that bothers you then you should wear a mask. If you suck up a lager piece of mulch it will bog down the machine and shut off. You will have to take the vac tube off and remove the jammed piece. I’ve never had problems with the blade very durable. If the acorns are small enough in Oregon you shouldn’t have a problem sucking up a couple. Thanks for watching! if you have any more questions let me know

Do you have any issues with your blower in vacuum mode sucking up rocks? Thinking about getting one with the vacuum option to pickup leaves out of the flower beds in the fall. Don't want to suck up any rocks LOL.
@codyjs92589 жыл бұрын
+William Todd (williamtodd) I know this comment is way late but i'll still answer. These things hold a lot of power. When I held the trigger just a bit, it stuck to the street. They will suck up rocks, however you dont want to. It will damage the fins and blades inside the leaf blower and you will just be replacing them all the time.
@wildbill23c9 жыл бұрын
Cody Scheuermann Better late than never LOL. Thank you for the reply, it helped a lot. I figured there would be issues with rocks being sucked up. Figured it would work great around my yard though at least.

@Harry-kr4jq3 жыл бұрын
Electric shredder is not better in my opinion. I've had two Black & Deckers and both had an issue with the power switch. After a few years had to unplug the blower to turn off, plus it would plug if picking up leaves to fast. My Sthil has never plugged up. I also, at times empty the bag and re-mulch the contents again. The blade is not plastic as in the BD's and can be replaced if needed.
