This is one of the best & most thorough comparison vids on KZbin that wasn't stultifyingly long and boring. 30 minutes well spent. Having an equal amount of medium in a defined space so every blow was as close to equal did it for me. Your additional input on the blower's accessories and capabilities, your presentation style, plus the clear informative charts, made this a great & informative vid. You blew it out of the water, or like leaves off a driveway. Well done, Main Street Mower Men!!

My mom has a BG86 thats about 11 years old and its a great blower that's comfortable to use for long periods of time. It replaced a cheap $100 Poulan blower and i remember being astounded by the difference in performance and comfort as well as noise. At my house, I have a BR600 and it's a beast! I agree with what you guys said about it being comfortable and lightweight and not sucking the fuel tank dry constantly. It makes leaf clean up easy and also does a great job with grass clean up after mowing.

I upgraded to a BR 700 this year and I was amazed by it. It is a absolute powerhouse compared to the 26 N blower I was using. I used to spend around 6 hours blowing leaves. The BR 700 cleared my entire property in under 2 hours. I was hesitant to pull the trigger on a $650 machine but I do not regret it. My old unit would not move wet leaves at all. The 700 moves whatever you put in front of it.

upgraded to the 800x from the br600 after 3 years of commercial landscaping. Extra ~200cfm make a hugeee difference in wet leaves. In my experience, higher mph is better for lightstuff like dust, not super wet grass like driveways, but you need the high cfm numbers for wet stuff like leaf cleanups in the fall. 800x has doubled and sometimes almost tripled my fall cleanup speeds.

Landscape maintenance tech. I own both the 56 and the 86. Both are used as blowers and vacuums. Both with easy start. The 56 was the starter blower, then i upgraded to the 86 when i wanted to carry two blowers. The upgrade was for power, the anti-vibration, and the thumb trigger. Both still in use, the 56 is 10 years old, the 86 is 5. Excellent units, and the 86 is worth the extra money every day of the week.

I just went thru making this decision last week. I'm one of those people who likes to buy the biggest and baddest of everything, but as I get older, I'm becoming more reasonable. lol. I was initially between the BR430 and BR600, but then I settled on the BR450 because I liked the telescoping tube and adjustable handle. I'm not regretting it. Its a beast for a homeowner scenario.

@@Robsbrd99i have a br600 i bought 2 years ago after the dealer didn't have the 430 i wanted. when i realized the 600 was way lighter than the 350 they did have, i grabbed it. what a great blower. way better than a hand held, just way better. if you're doing leaves, i'd recommend a backpack just because it'll save you so much time. i picked up a sh86c 2 weeks ago, which is effectively the bg86c blower with the vac kit included (plus a nicer grab handle and the shredder on the impeller) and that was a game changer. i haven't used it as a blower yet but as a vacuum it's awesome. sucked down big piles of leaves and made getting my flower beds cleaned out way easier. i did more in 2 hours what took me 4 a few weeks. unfortunately we have to bag leaves here so that takes a ton of time, this made the bagging way faster.

@charnol1 That's funny, two years ago , I went in and looked at the backpacks, especially the 600 and thought it might be overkill for the hour I might use it at one time. I didn't buy anything at that time and thought I'd better think about it some more before I buy. After two more seasons, I think I want the biggest handheld I can get so I can just set it down and mulch up what I blew with the riding mower. Now, after seeing the video and your post, I'm thinking backpacks again.🤣

@@Robsbrd99 if you think you're gonna be blowing for an hour, get the br600. even the bg86, the biggest handheld stihl makes, doesn't compare. let's pretend they used the round nozzle in their bg86 test - the time would have still been well over a minute. compared to the br600 at 34 seconds. twice as fast or better.

I love apples to apples tests, and i feel this comparison was more than fair. I would love to see a BG 56 vs. BG 86 comparison with each unit using a round and flattened tip. Yes, the 86 will win this comparison, but i suspect the difference between these units would be so small that it would make the average homeowner question if the price point is worth the performance.

12:22 why the home owner version BGA 60 ($299) with the same N as the commercial BGA 86 ($279) costs more..? Can you share the difference between BGA 60 & BGA 86..?
@mainstreetmower
@mainstreetmower 11 ай бұрын
The BGA60 is considered a homeowner blower, it’s sold as a bundle (unit + AK30 battery + AL101 charger) for $299. The BGA 86 is a commercial unit and does not include battery and charger. This would still require the purchase of a commercial AP class battery ($189 - $379) and a charger ($59 - $179).

13:11 This insight is something I've noticed from using 700 and 600 backpacks myself, if you get low and get thr nozzle close to the ground it works better. Stihl should make an aftermarket nozzle which extends and points forward. For clearing leaves but also things like pine needles on golf courses, this would work really well for sure.

For the money and performance, I just bought the BR430. This model actually uses a pin bearing on the piston rather than a bushing that you will find in the 600s and up. What's up with that Stihl...?

Can you clarify what the impact is on a pin vs bushing bearing?
@jerrywhite4497
@jerrywhite4497 Жыл бұрын
@nateb7778 In instances where high-velocity is a factor, bearings provide a better solution, while bushings respond well to low-speed, heavy load applications. The life of a bushing is greatly influenced by operational temperature and heat caused by friction from oscillating and reciprocating motion. So, why would Stihl use bushings on their pistons for the 600, 700, and 800 backpack blowers and not bearings..? It boggles the mind...

@@mainstreetmower I don't understand how people use it for a month or two and then it sits for the rest of the year... People are not creative... You can use it almost daily whole year... In the spring when is spring cleaning you can blow all the dust, spider webs and stuff... You can blow off the grass clippings after mowing/trimming the garden. In the summer the same thing and much more. The sky is the limit... Autumn after storms or to blow the leaves and more... Even my dad who was scheptical when I bought it was impressed!!

Where is stihl corded leaf blower?

@mainstreetmower Жыл бұрын
Im personally not a big fan of the corded ones. And as we explained in the video, STIHL kind of pivoted away from that design and developed more towards keeping the battery products cordless.

BR800 is perfect for tree service as its the only one that can push and throw sticks, trigs, and branches. This blows so hard it will blow tou back and wear your muscles out a bit, just fighting against how hard it pushes yoi back. Practically, it is too powerful if you want to blow out mulch beds for common landscaping BR700 is for dry, bulk leaf clean ups only. Like they say, it moves volume, but it actually has less punching power when compared to the BR600 BR600 is the absolute must have of you want to tick all the boxes, get the beat of all worlds, satifsaction guaranteed. If you are a landscaper or do lawn care, the BR600 is the clear winner, and should be you first purchase. Once you have the capacity for a second blower, then purschase the BR800 to satisfy those big jobs, while still using the BR600 for most daily needs. Lawn care professionals*** You must buy a BR600, nothing smaller Homeowners** Can get away with a BR430 for residential use throughout the yard Anything smaller is for blowing off sidewalks after mowing, such like that. Not much help in terms of leaf clean ups. Too slow, better off just raking Hope this helps guys! Used BR600's sell for $300 used on Marketplace. Now go start yourself a business! ❤
