Yes Ozzie hard or any hardwood will split better around 45° Bevelled edge

Good video. I've used various splitting mauls over the years (had to reprofile most of them for our hardwoods also) but find I prefer a splitting axe. Currently using a Council Tools 5 pound with a 28" handle that I really like. The overstrike guard on these Stihl mauls and axes are nice to have, I have a leather one on mine but it tends to ride up the handle.

I just got the Husqvarna s2800 splitting axe it has 22° main wedge and 25° bevel on edge. At 700mm long bit small for me. I like 800mm long. It works ok but I like the Stihl splitting axe better. At least with the Husqvarna S2800 no need to reprofile bevel edge they got it right like Fiskars
