Stihl USG RM RS RH & X-Cut chain angles

Does the "B" plate move back and forth depending on rt. or left tooth or stay on "0" ?

Yes. On a Stihl USG move the "B" setting to +15 for right hand cutters. Left hand cutters "B" setting is -15. On the Oregon grinder slid the "B" setting towards you 10 degree for right hand cutters. Slid away for to 10 degrees for left hand cutters. Oregon recommends 10 on most of their chains. Whereas, Stihl recommends 15 on most chains.

Respectfully, Stihl USA recommends 40/15/30 for RS and RM saw chains. Oregon USA recommends a 10 degree down angle on most of their chains. Keep up the good work.

No mention of 10° in the manual. What way do you move the vice for right tooth. Can't find and Information on it

The 10 degree is listed in the Oregon manual page 16 - Grinding Angles Chart. On my 620 grinder I move the vice assembly towards me on a right hand cutter. The Stihl Grinder Angle Chart also shows the A, B, C (40-15-30). Hope that makes scene.

If you look at the USG chart at the Bottom it has RH rapid hexa in column A it shows +25° / +25° and underneath that it has +40°. What is the +40° column B shows -15°/ +15° and underneath that it shows 0 So what do the underneath numbers mean ? Got me lost 10° was only used on full chisel the chart show almost all chains in column B with -15° / +15° and underneath 0°

Good Morning. I've got you covered on this one. I literally just figured this out the other day studying this chart. Looking at the columns from left to right. Second column, top box, shows the Top plate is (1), Side plate is (2), and the Depth gauge is (3). These numbers represent the grinding angles in the rest of the columns. The top two numbers represent "A", "B", and "C" angles for #1 and #2. The bottom number represents grinding angle for #3 the depth gauge in columns "A", "B", and "C".. So in your example: +25 / +25 is the head angle to grind #1 and #2. +40 below is the head tilt for grinding depth gauge. Again the same applies to column B: Down angle (B) is set to -15 / +15 to grind #1 and #2 on the tooth. Column "C" follows the same format. The 0 underneath is the angle used to grind the depth gauge. I hope this helps. You have taught me a ton on this topic and I will continue to learn. ​@tomlaracey3515 I did see that 1 2 and 3 and was wondering why put raker gauge angle in bottom of square. Why in column B do they have -15° / +15° on so many chains only full chisel RS chains would have any tilt. My information says Stihl no longer support 10° downward tilt as 30 years ago the side plate was a bit taller and top plate was leaning downwards If you was in Australia I would call you.
