Great video George! I think CD's are still relevant today, as you know, I'm a massive CD collector. I choose CD over vinyl mainly for price, but I've noticed the price go up! A few years ago a brand new release over here was £10/£11, now its £14/£15!! Makes a difference you know! But still it's much cheaper compared to vinyl. Another reason is space, CD's are much easier to store than vinyl. You made some great points yourself mate 😁🤘🏻🤘🏻

Thanks Josh, yeah I've noticed the cd prices are up a bit. Maybe that's proof they are still somewhat popular, but still way way cheaper than vinyl! Thanks for watching Josh!

@georgegsroomofrock9868 You're welcome man! Yeah, it's annoying CD prices have gone up a little recently. But yeah, they're still way cheaper than vinyl. You can still get 2/3 CD's for the price of one vinyl. You're right, the rise in price shows they're still popular and relevant today! You're welcome mate 😊🤘🏻

Great vid. I'm a die-hard CD collector , has always been my favorite format. I love physical media, and the ability to hear an entire album start to finish without having to pause and flip an LP over has always been my preferred listening style. Keep championing CDs!

I still buy CDs as my main physical format. Luv records too. However, many of them are just too damn much.

I'm a CD person also and I'm really hoping that CD's don't ever go away and I just simply can't afford to buy vinyls all of the time and haven't bought a vinyl in 3 years great video George.

Thanks Ben. Vinyl is just insane with the prices!

I've been collecting CDs and cassettes since I was 9 years old and I'm 43 now and still do it. Only have about 100 vinyl which I rarely play. The USB CD player is a great idea. Never knew they made one like that. Looking on Amazon after finishing the comment here. Even when the CD format goes away I will still be collecting.
@georgegsroomofrock98683 ай бұрын
Me too! That player takes some getting used to but I hope you like it! Thanks for watching !

You're spot on here man, prices are INSANE like Crazy Eddie lol, that's why I've slowed down on buying vinyl, I'm not gonna start collecting CD's again though, I just don't have the space lol, in my car I listen to my Spotify.
@georgegsroomofrock98683 ай бұрын
I get it. The vinyl prices are out of hand on certain albums! I knew you like a good record store run though! Lol

I like CDs as well. I'll keep buying them too. I like CDs, vinyl, amd cassettes equally, and I think all three formats have different pros and cons. Anyway, another reason to like CDs is that there are some CD reissue labels that do really good jobs, like Divebomb Records and Rock Candy. To me, there are certain genres that I prefer listening to on particular formats, like black metal and cassettes or prog metal and CDs.

@@georgegsroomofrock9868 Absolutely. We all have our preferences. Some people prefer CDs. Some people prefer vinyl. There are even some people whp prefer reel-to-reel. It's all good :)

Hey George I'm still buying CDs and I said to my son who is 34 and I told him my collection might be worth something when I go and he told me that they'll never sell it because it ment something to me and I thought that' was pretty cool !!

Yes that is very cool! You've got great kids!!

Hi George!! I'm also a cd guy, still have some vinyl in my collection, but you're right prices are outrageous and in some cases it makes no sense to buy a piece of black wax for that $$..... i decided to have my "big" bands on vinyl, but not going to spend a lot of cash either or caring about OG's pressings - reissues stuff like that. Also the sound thing is also a thing i don't mind because i'm not an audifile guy and my setup is just average too. cheers and be well
@georgegsroomofrock98683 ай бұрын
Yeah i understand that reasoning! Price has alot to do with it!

Hi George, I'm also a CD guy myself. Even though, CD & vinyl prices can be overpriced. Especially if it's a new release. I still go with the CD format. That's the format I always prefer & grew up with it. Sometimes it help save space and it's easy to find used CDs at second hand stores.
@georgegsroomofrock98683 ай бұрын
Yes used in shops is very beneficial that's for sure! Thanks Tony!

Great video man!!! I'm a huge cd collector myself with around 1300 Cd's, I've had a record collection in the past and had no record player as I collected them more than played them. I ended getting rid of them as they are a pain to store and transport, not to mention that everything I had on record. I had on cd, so with that being said, all I collect is Cd's
@georgegsroomofrock98683 ай бұрын
Cool yeah that's a another good point you made, storage is hard if you have alot of vinyl compared to CD'S. Thanks for watching!

Thanks George. Almost exactly two years ago, I wanted to buy a new home CD player system. To my surprise, there was very little choice as most department stores no longer stock these devices. That, I did not expect-but I learned then there’s just no demand nowadays.
@jimmycampbell783 ай бұрын
You can still buy CD player systems online, brand new or second hand. I have even bought CD discmans/walkmans from Amazon only recently.
@georgegsroomofrock98683 ай бұрын
Amazon always has something you just have to do the research!

I have about 1300 vinyl records and around 2000 CDs. The problem with CDs is the loudness wars. Too often remastered means the CD was made louder. I don't need that. My stereo came with a volume control. I love CDs but I don't need or want loudness wars CDs.
Don't like getting screwed on artwork on cds however do have 6K+ in collection. Physical goods still matter.
@georgegsroomofrock98683 ай бұрын
Yeah that is the one bad thing is the smaller artwork. Thanks for watching!

Cd sound quality is the one I enjoy the most, I haven't come across bluetooth earbuds that can match it. I just wish that Sony/Philips/Panasonic would start making discmans again. I'm currently using a Sony cd walkman from 1998, I just hope it doest break any time soon.
@georgegsroomofrock98687 күн бұрын
Cool you still have that from 98, they built that stuff to last unlike today. Thanks for watching!
@1998mchp3 ай бұрын
the most important quality of CD is the date it was made. 1994 and beyond - Loudness Wars dynamically crushed. Pre 1993 - the widest dynamic range you are ever going to hear in the digital realm. EG: New Cure album digital CD/DL - Dynamic Range 05 - only 5db range between quietest and loudest sound. 1989 Cure Disintergration has a DR12. The terrible mid 2000s remaster - it lost 4db of information. DR08. Loudness Wars. There was a war. Apart from orchestral - there were no sonic survivors.
@georgegsroomofrock98683 ай бұрын
That's a great point! Loudness wars is significant!

@@georgegsroomofrock9868 they just pitch corrected Freddy Mercury in the latest $grab version of Queen I. They. Pitch. Corrected. Freddy. Mercury. As well dynmaically crushing the music itself. And that is what will start being spat out of streaming services around the world. Pre 1993 CDs (Rips) are going to be the Rosetta Stone of pop/rock music. Vinyl revival is in large part a response to LOUD ALL THE TIME - because the format's dynamic range limiation has proved a saving grace.....DR08 or lower and the needle will be out or the groove more than in. But the pink noise/neeedlefriction-smoothness of vinyl has always been a deal breaker for me. But in terms of digital.... Its an exceptional technological failure - that for so many years technology produced fidelity improvements - but then effectively created its own version of MAD - mutually asssured destruction. The war happened. Except for orchestral - there were no musical survivors.

Still buy cds all the time, more than vinyl because they are more expensive, like you are pointing out.
@georgegsroomofrock98683 ай бұрын
They really need to reduce those vinyl prices!
@mister_syre3 ай бұрын
CDs are better, overall: less expensive, shipping is more affordable, cheaper to manufacture, easier to store, they can work in cars. Records are overhyped.
