Do it! Try caving (my own passion) you can see places few people, if anyone has ever seen before. It's cheap too and with a bit of luck you may discover a new cave or passage, especially if you go one step further and try cave diving. If that's not for you try mountaineering. Or canoeing. Or canyoning. Or whatever takes your fancy. Or just go travelling. If you go hosteling you'll find lots of friendly people who often offer help and suggestions of things to do and places to see and you'll probably find some who wish to visit the same places as you. Give it a try and you'll be glad you did.

We are a generation of nostalgia. Dreamers of memories we wish we had. Lovers of a life we wish we had. This empty modern world has robbed us of meaning so we create it in art.

Well written, and I won't disagree, as these things are true. I will add this while I'm here though; Ever period of revival throughout history can be marked in tandem with it's art. Exceptional creation that can only occur in the right environment. So from this perspective, (and hey, what makes art so moving if not perspective?) we're living trough the most defining period that's ever been. Maybe beauty really is in the eye of the beholder? I mean a butterfly is beautiful, but if you could point to the most chaotic, but most beautiful time in it's life, it would be the second it breaks out of that cocoon. kzbin.info/www/bejne/np2ai4t9adtglcU

This song has taken on such a different meaning in my life as I've aged through life and my career. 5 years ago I used to drive around to this song gettin the feels, of nostalgia...the open road and possibilities. That was before I changed careers into EMS. Now I'm EMT transitioning to a paramedic and I find my self sitting at my desk after a long tough shift listening to this. Today was the helplessness of arriving to an accident on the highway, involving an entrapment that we were helpless to help. They were severely entrapped and we needed the fire dept stat to cut them out and the fire dept got delayed 15min because there were 6 other unresponsive calls going on in the area. Watching the life leave that person sitting there, stuck. Not everyday is like that, there's so much beauty in even the small interactions with people. There are terrible days like today and there are absolutely wonderful days though as well. Sitting here listening to this song on repeat after a day like today has me considering just how much life and where we are changes over time. Whole new different meaning and relationship to this song now. The meaning of "so many miles on the open road" used to be about driving around pondering life and now it relates to me through my work. Everyday I start my shift readying my gear to see what the open road will offer. So many miles clocked in driving and operating on my rig, and every single mile has a story. Today was a terrible story but tomorrow I'm sure will have an awesome story. This song is the perfect accompaniment for my laughs, prayers, and tears on that regard and it's really helping me process a day like today.

Music is the kind of art that most easily puts me in touch with my spirit. This song does that for me, it’s the kind of art that makes you realize that there’s more to humans beyond the physical. We are undoubtedly spiritual creatures, and by reading the comments one can see it has also touched many others spiritually! Beautiful to see.

exactly, these sentimental songs, of pure inexplicable nostalgia... reminds me of who I really am, and what it's really like to live appreciate every moment, see how valuable time is, see how time passes and how many things are left behind, like on the road I come to the conclusion that feeling is something powerful, it makes us see and understand the truth in a way that is beyond human. the true feeling of love is the key to the spirit.

This is one of the most beautiful comments I have ever read on here. Keep projecting love and remember most importantly to love yourself and make the best of it while here on this ride. Alas, it is temporary and just a ride- we all get on and get off albeit at different times. Keep going. Undoubtedly, there is heartache on the ups and downs of the ride.. we have different lengths of time on our personal rides, as stark as a realization that is to find out sometimes. Someone once told me living and losing someone important to you is like losing an arm or foot etc, as you keep on living but a piece of you is gone until father time heals you. Time and age is the ultimate adversary. We try to fight it sometimes but father time is undefeated. Keep watered and keep shining - as we're all just flowers in a way. Take care. Love sent all the way from Southern USA. ❤ ✌

Hit the road....hit the road

Desde Argentina, Bs As.

It's my birthday, and I'm sitting alone on the street, listening to this song on repeat. A wave of nostalgia sweeps over me every time I hear it. Just want to say, you're not alone if you're feeling lonely and nostalgic, even on your birthday.

This reminded me of a picture from my childhood that I haven't seen in years. It was an old, brittle sepia-toned picture, the ones where they printed the date along the edge. 1968. I was four and was being kissed by a little girl about the same age in front of a Native-American themed truck-stop diner. Vintage Americana. I was too young to ever remember the kiss, the picture has been lost for years and I'm now starting to brittle and sepia. So thanks for reminding me. It's been one hell of a trip.

This song is incredible. My feelings of complete sadness and yet complete happiness at the same time. The longing for those moments long ago with no care and just my curiosity and exploration. It makes me happy to have a song that captures the moments and yet sad that they are gone.
