🎸 Lesson Summary
This track from the album "The Search For Everything" is a standout Mayer classic! It's super cool guitar parts, mixed in with pop lyrics and classic John Mayer melodies really make it a fantastic song to listen to.
For the guitar parts we use a combination of pretty cool chord shapes, including some chords you may not have attempted before (A7sus4 and A6 being the standout shapes that define the song). It's a great track to learn for your strumming hand as well, with a consistent 16th note vibe throughout. Enjoy!

I'm an older cat and I don't follow musicians as closely as I did when I was young. Sure, I know John Mayer, but I'm not familiar with this song of his. I like it very much. On the 9:50 mark talking about the scale, it's likely an E Dorian as that works on the D Major as the root of the song. Love this tutorial! You get a sub! :)

@@andrewjordanmuzic Agreed on the bridge! Throughout the song it's tough to distinguish those maj7 chords from 6 chords. For example in the intro, I hear Dmaj7/A to A7sus4 because of the D moving to E. Thanks For the tutorial @Your Guitar Academy- this is a sweet way to play both the chords and the pentatonic lick! In the recording it sounds like the chords are played in root position, probably as a separate track

On the baseline in the verse, I find it easier by down strumming the open E then open A instead of open E to fifth fret. For me it just keeps me in time better 🤷‍♂️ Incredible lesson though, learn it in a couple minutes 😃
