Just to add to the rich history of MCU in Manila, the building you featured was completed in 1915 and utilized as Manila College of Pharmacy. With their growing number of students, they built another well designed building nearby in 1926. Unfortunately, it was demolished years back, lot still empty and now fenced with GI sheets. You actually captured the place in your video. Exact location is Felix Huertas corner Mayhaligue. That corner lot and nearby places were full of students in white during the 60s and 70s until MCU decided to have one campus in Caloocan and closed its Manila campuses in 1996. Felix Huertas street is where I grew up.

Hindi pa po nagsara ng 1996,kasi po nandiyan pq ako sa MCU until 1999,nung pong 1996 na nagpaenroll po ako ng BSBA kqmi na po yung last batch hindi na po sila tumatanggap ng new student following yrs kasi nga po ililipat ng course nqmin sa Caloocan main pero di nq po BA gagawin ng Commerce

"1996 - All the colleges were consolidated in one the campus. All the programs in the Manila campuses in Zurbaran and Mayhaligue were transferred to Caloocan."

Graduated in that school Manila Central University Medical Technology in the 80's. So many good memories in that school. Balita ko itatayo dyan ang bagong MCU school of pharmacy and medical technology pa rin pero di pa alam kung kailan. Sana soon. 🥰

I spent my first 2 years of college as a Biology student at that campus from 1983-1985, the height of New Wave music. Thus I lived that long in that area. Salamat sa pag tour mo kabayan. Na miss ko ang maynila. Dyan ako lumaki sa bambang at avenida rector evangelista. May tindahan kame dyan noon sa Raon evangelista. Yung mga sinehan dyan sa recto lahat yan napasok ko. Natutuwa ako yung ruben na sinehan hindi pa rin mag bago ang sign niya ganon pa rin. 1970s to 2003 ako nandyan sa maynila kaya miss na miss ko na yan laki ng pinag bago.

10:08 Early 1990s palagi ako dumadaan dito pauwe from school. Palagi ako naghangad noon magaral mg kursong medicine sa building na ito. Napansin ko mid 1990s naging abandonado na ito. I still vividly remember seeing students sa labas ng building. Sa kanto nito may higanteng PINE TREE. The tree provides shade sa area at sobrang makalat ng mga pines na nahuhulog. Wala na ang puno, so sad.

Thank you for featuring MCU-Manila. Actually noong nag aaral pa ako sa UE-Recto, nag cross enroll ako sa MCU to take up Chemistry units. Then eventually nag transfer narin ako sa MCU Caloocan branch) para tapusin ang BS Biology course ko dahil sa proximity ng tirahan namin sa Malabon. Malapit sa puso ko ang MCU at UE. Nakakalungkot na ganito na pala ang ichura ng building. If Im not mistaken, MCU was one of the original member universities of UAAP, kasabay ng UE bilang probationary member. Paki correct po ako kung mali ang info ko.

It should be a museum tribute to all our great nurses who have paved their way to serve as responders here and abroad . You know during my surgery here in 🇺🇸 the best nurses were the Filipinas. They were like guardian angels who took care of me religiously 💖 even at the early dawn. The other nationalities weren’t as warm hearted as them. @@mingmeow5642 filipinos always warm hearted they show the warm of the family specially when you are close to them you become part of their family they show great affection and care one jeepney incident I saw an eldery woman begging and selling her bear brand milk she said she is a victim of slasher she show her bag that was riped off the wallet are missing she doesn't have any single cent to pay the jeepney fair and money to buy the bus ticket back to Ilocos every one inside the jeepney open their wallet and gave money to the elderly woman without taking anything from her that the most wonderful trait of a Filopino that I'm so proud about it's an unforgettable scene in my life that I should say i'm proud to be a Filipino

My friend lived on P. Guevarra St. just at the back of Central Market..I thought that maybe I could see their residence but I guess it's been torn down...seeing those places bring back a lot of memories during our young barkada days..if only old, abandoned buildings sa Manila can be cleaned up and used again, especially low housing, maybe we will have less squatters, and it will also add beauty to the city...sayang...good job Ka Tubero..continue the good job..👍

1996 ako nagsimula tumira dyan sa Sta Cruz area. Nagsimula ako pumasok ng college. Bumalik bigla ala-ala ko, nadadaanan ko lang yan dati. Pati yung terminal ng bus na dinaanan dito sa video (tapat ng Doroteo Jose LRT Terminal) pag umuuwi naman ng probinsya. Yang MCU Bldg na yan nakikita ko lang kasi dyan yung daan ng bus na sinasakyan ko. Kakamiss mga panahon na yun kasi unang salta ko ng Maynila. Naligaw pa nga ako dyan e. Nalimutan ko ano byahe ng jeep sasakyan pauwi ng tinitirhan ko. Haha, ang tanda ko na 😂

Natira ako sa Oroquieta corner Fugoso sa tapat ng Baker's Fair Bldg. Na demolish na yung property na tinirahan namin back in the mid 80s and early 90s. Nakakamiss ang old neighborhood. Marami ring MCU students na kumakain sa Baker's Fair and eateries along Oroquieta and Central Market area.

Di ko po alam na dyan pala before ang MCU!, Ang alam ko po ay sa Caloocan sa may monumento tagal na din po nun duon, actually dun po pinanganak ung sister ko nung 1958 matagal na din po yung sa Caloocan Sir Fern tural andyan na po kayo sa may avenida try nyo po puntahan ang Catholic trade, store po yang ng mga religious items matagal na po yan, tingnan nyo po ung lugar lumang luma na din vintage na! Yes sir. Yung video 4:29 dating Gotesco theater. Famous movie house in the 70s. I was able to watch few films there. Iba pa ang sectioning ng sinehan noon: orchestra, balcony and lodge. Beside Gotesco before is Ever Emporium. Buhay na buhay ang part ng Recto Avenue na yan back in the 70s especially pag magpa-Pasko ay isa yan sa main shopping area.

14:06 that old house used to be a general merchandise store of an old Chinese owner. I remember, we bought my friend's foam mattress at that place and my mini gasul. I don't know if that old house is abandoned now.. It's nice to see that up to this time, it's still existing in that same spot..

I was surprised to see the old liceo de Manila! And now the abandoned MCU zurbaran now a fugoso st. I studied there way back from mid 80' s they have 4 colleges pharmacy medical technology dentistry and optometry the second MCU was in mayhaligue at and now demolished..

Kahit ano man establishments kapag napabayaan ay nag kakaroon ng malubhang pag kasira. Ang napansin ko ay habang on the way ka sa pupuntahan mo, ang mga ibang kababayan natin halos nasa gitna ng kalye - nag lalakad, mga bata nag tatakbuhan. May mga nag titinda sa bawât gilid ng main road. Di ba delikado yan. Kung saan saan tumatawid ang mga kababayan natin, wala yatang traffic light. Nasa corner po kasi ng Tayuman at Avenida Rizal St. ang old church na Espiritu Santo. Built before WW2 . Dati po cemetery and they just built a church on it. Sana po makapasyal ulit kayo sa Sta.
