Information from the locals -
This hotel was known as The Zamboanga Plaza Hotel & Casino. Opened in 1979 it was the first-ever 5 Star hotel and largest hotel in Zamboanga City and Mindanao during the Marcos Era that only the most wealthy could afford. Celebrities, high political figures from all over the world, and even President Marcos stayed at the hotel for events and meetings.
The facilities consisted of a huge swimming pool with a pool bar, restaurant w/ a coffee shop, a huge function hall, disco room, and casino that was known at its time to be the most beautiful casino in Asia. Walking inside the hotel made you feel like you were walking into a Palace.
But the 5-star hotel closed in 1986 and not much is known why. There are only rumors & speculations as to why it closed down. Some say it was due to bad management or perhaps someone got murdered. Lastly most locals say it was closed because it was affecting the success of other businesses. But in the end, no one really knows the truth.
Now it just sits abandoned with rumors of demons, spirits, & a huge snake lurking deep inside protecting the room were the former President stayed.
***This was filmed months ago, as of right now it's been said to have been purchased and hopefully, this place will be renovated and restored to it's former glory!***

Hi Steve. Actually that mansion in Tagaytay City was never been finished and of course not stayed by the Marcos Family. It was just a tourist spot during late '80's. The tourist comes there just to witness the view of the unfinished mansion and from there you can view the overlooking scenario of the Taal Lake and Taal Volcano. It appears just the way it is.

Accidentally found this. Looks so familiar ! indeed it is familiar , made me emotional. It is the glance and glamour of the 80`s in our Region 9. Have attended Seminars here. The name of the abandoned hotel is PLAZA HOTEL located at Km. 7 Barangay of Pasonanca at it is near also in Zamboanga City Water District (water plant), Pasonaca Park, Swimming pool, The Tree House and a lot more. There is also abandoned Convention Center build under President Marcos administration. Pasonanca is the central barangay of Zamboanga City with a huge Park for jogging and biking with big trees and fresh air and big river. I ❤ Pasonanca...

I would definitely rebuild it. put it back to its original state of mesmerizing grandeur. We used to visit this great hotel back in 1978. it was indeed one of the best hotels in the Philippines, with its world class amenities. A must-visit during the 70s to the early 80s. I miss this hotel.

Hi Steve, from Zamboanga City here. Thanks for featuring the old Zamboanga Plaza Hotel, this used to have it's casino. A lot of rich people got bankrupt in our city because of this Casino. A few families got broken and suicides happened in one of the rooms as per my mother in law's stories. Oh well, I hope I get to win your prize. God bless

I've been exploring abandoned buildings and things since I was a kid. I just got into photography about 4 years ago and started taking a camera with me on my adventures. My camera was constantly attached to me and still is. About two years ago my mirror on the inside got scratched during a shoot and it keeps getting worse which you can see in my photos and videos a lot of times. Hi , thanks for showing this vlog . I wondered what happen to that hotel. Now I know. At one time I thought it was just a figment of my childhood imagination and there wasn't really a hotel there. I grew up in Zamboanga and it was a long time before I came back to visit . And when I came back I did not see that hotel anymore and I just did not ask about it. For those from Zamboanga , picture it in the 1970's and 1980's . Then picture it now. That was how it was for me. I love the progress , but I miss the past. I remember the beautiful flowers and there seem to be a lot of open space before.

Hi Steve! My mom was a kid in the 80's and she still remembers, a little bit vaguely about running around the grounds at the Zamboanga Plaza Hotel. My grandad was in politics before and she said they would hold meetings at the lobby coffee shop, etc... hold parties at the function rooms and play casino sporadically... At that era, the hotel was indeed grand. I have my theory about it's closure in '86... It was closed because Former President Marcos was forced to leave this country during the revolution at that time and the new administration were-I guess say it like it is, being petty. My mom fondly remembers getting a pack of Hershey Kisses whenever my grandad would win some when he gets home... Kids will be kids. If it happened today, she'd ask for a designer purse!haha He wasn't really a gambler because he's pragmatic, just "pakisama" as they would say it. Anyway, I hope I get to win a camera, my cousin and I would wanna be just like you.

I've been there before.. Its nice there.. During the jamboree in Zamboanga city I slept with my boyscouts mates at the entrance of that hotel. There's no demons or any bad spirits that I felt when I was there at that old hotel.. Just trust to God and He will keep you safe always.. Peace and muchas gracias..

Orb 16:51!!! Super creepy! But loved it. So good to finally feature philippines. Try baguio city. Full of history. Loads of hotel devastated by the killer quake in the 90s. Most of them are haunted and would really cool if you would do that. Thats where im from. Keep doing what you do! Be safe in all of your adventures! Hope to shoot with you in the future.

Thanks for this video,.. damn!, Proud zamboangueño here!!... The thing is, I've been leaving my whole life here in Zamboanga and I've never seen the entire structure of this featured place. Like "Wow!" So amazing, the very first 5star hotel in Mindanao and the most beautiful casino in asia really is a music in my ears. Btw, the dude in the video, already met him about months ago, he used to checked in qith his family in the hotel where I'm currently working. And yeah I guess that was his aunt who told me that his a well known blogger and a native zamboangueño... Hope to see more featured videos about Zamboanga. Muchisimas gracias.

Almost 40 years abandoned and the interiors are still pretty good and sturdy. Surprisingly clean too.

Not that old. The city hall of zamboanga and some structures standing til this day are past 100 years old. But it is a waste of people's money though. Specially now government keep building new structures for disasters and for quarantine facility while some structures like this still existing but not used

I kept seeing this whenever i go to pasonanca but i never knew that it was a hotel all i knew that i was one of the biggest casinos according to my great grandmother. Marcos era brought prosperity and industrilization in the philippines but due to black propaganda, control by media and the church which had huge influence even up to this days brought down a great era of marcos. So sad, i hope Du30 keeps making philippines great and to his successor i hope it will be bong bong marcos coz ill definetly support without 2nd thoughts!
