Can we still make ships that are invisible to turrets we re-visit the concept that worked shockingly well in 2018 and see if its still possible.

I think its pretty realistic that you wouldn't be targeted by enemy turrets if you capture a ship of their faction.

If anything, conducting an op to capture a enemy ship and fly it through hostile territory is massively immersive.

Problem is that you don't need to capture anything, you can just build your own design and give it to an enemy faction and sneak up on them.

I highly disagree that taking over enemy players ship to infiltrate that players base is "scammy". It's players duty to not let other players to take over their creations by using sentry turrets or self destruct or going back to battlefield destroying their creations. SecOps should be always maintained.

Let's be fair, the entire premise of a stealth ship idea is by definition abusing the games mechanics to be able to sneak past the AI systems. At least from what I can see the premise behind the AI is to test if a ship is more friendly than hostile, and if more friendly than hostile it'll be left alone, which is a clever way if doing it.

I have to disagree with classifying hijacking enemy ships to infiltrate an enemy base as morally deficient. Only the losing side calls it immoral while the winning side calls it clever. Same can be said for WWI and WWII history.

Nah, it’s similar if not effectively the same as wearing your opponent’s colors. That is not ok if used in such a way, like the russians recently attempted in their false flag attack on belarus wearing ukrainian outfits. A double whammy there, but even if they had been targeting ukrainian troops and, somehow against all odds, they end up ‘winning’ the war, it will still not be justified in the eyes of the rest of the world. Might *does not* make right. As to the world wars, just because the amount of crimes against humanity the axis committed was so staggeringly gruesome does not somehow morally justify any wrongdoings of the allies. Lastly, you can’t conflate the winning side justifying an action with that action being, in fact, a justifiable action. That logic is how you may end up justifying atrocities. ​@@6105boeexcept might *does* equal right. In your scenario Russia would have "won the war" with said tactic but seen as unjustified by the rest of the world. The only reason it would be seen as unjustified is purely because the rest of the world says it is. Majority makes the rules every time.

He said it's morally sketchy because it utilizes an exploit. By this logic, DDOS crashing / breaching the server's cyber security and setting the health of every grid to 0 with admin powers is "CLEVER WINNING TROLOLOLOL" . Either way, offlining people is cowardly and those doing it have a lot of time to justify it in their heads while their non-opponent is OFFLINE, but they know exactly what they're doing.

If you can steal an enemy ship and use it to infiltrate an enemy base, hats off to you then, you deserve that win. I don't really see it as morally scummy. Takes alot to pull off and doesn't give you too much of an advantage.

No? You can now easily get their GPS location, ram the ship into their stuff / explode it and then send waves of drones and missiles at their location. Or use a survival kit to have a respawn place in their base

Honestly, using a stolen enemy ship to bypass automated turrets is entirely realistic, It could be considered a "dick move" for sure, but fooling an enemies sensors into thinking you're friendly is a legit strategy in real world warfare. It would be interesting to find out what kind of defences can counter a hijacked ship

Mechanically ingame, I think that would only be: A player that knows what is up. And even in a RP setting, where the character on defense duty doesn´t know what´s up, a faction could make up signals that it´s really them coming in. Like coming in from a certain direction, which the enemy wouldn´t know. Or flashing a short range (few km) beacon or something. Not sure how sensors would react to enemy players in a cockpit or a single enemy block on an otherwise friendly grid. But IF it reacts, land mines could work against ground based attacks, too.

You can trick the targeting system by continuously rotating. So I put a prop out in front of my ships with decoys or rotors on the ends for the targeting system to try to lock onto.

That's pretty interesting. Few weeks ago (3 or 4) I built a long Shaped Stealth Ship, which has a Complete Second Hull, only Connected via Hinges. To access my Stealth Shuttle, it has 2 Doors beneath to enter it, which the door on the outer hull is labeled as "Neutral". So you might need a Block that can be labeled on which faction it is belonging, set it as neutral and as long the Turret does not targeting any Neutral things, you're good to go. I tested it and it worked quite well. I used your Old video plus a Giant as fck Ramiel Angel, Black Double Pyramid looking Ship, that cannot be detected from the Enemies when closed. If you open the giant Plates, the Ship is still (but not 100%) undetectable, but in opened Stage all the Turrets under the cloaking can detect hostile ships. I'll test it a bit more, but I hope that Cloaking technique still works.

Capturing an enemy ship and using their "old transponder code but it checks out" is totally legit, I've seen it in a movie once!

Pritey Cool. I wonder if there is a limit to how many friendly structures a turret is willing or able to shoot through to get to a hostile.

Could we explore a turret avoidance system instead if the stealth element is now gone? Like a ship which can jettison decoys to close in on a turreted ship?

That does work. I once built a siege ship that built and yeeted decoys in a cone, so I could snipe enemy turrets while within their range. Obviously, that does work only agains AI controlled turrets though.

Funny idea: use a programmable block to take control of the ships movement and have it ram into allied ships, If you have a sensor set to trigger the programmable block then you could have the programmable block set to the enemies team

the fact that the turrets will rip through an allied grid to get to an enemy is troublesome. Imagine using this tactic as a way to destroy enemy big ships. Sneak up on them and have the smallest grid you could make, park on them while they are out on a patrol. When they get back to base their own turrets would rip them apart trying to get to your little drone.

Give n take, the stealth tactic may not work anymore but it also means the turret won't hesitate to shoot it's own parts to hit the enemy now.

I'd have to say that if an enemy ship is completely out of the line of sight of the turret and it hasn't been detected before, the turret shouldn't engage. Otherwise you wouldn't even be able to hide behind enemy ships even if you're not controlling them, any object should just occlude line-of-sight just like terrain or the turrets become a magical radar.

Loved the video @LastStandGamers! Can't wait for the next video man! To be honest, Hijacking a Ship may be a Somewhat Scummy Move, but as long as Most of the Ship is intact and hasn't been Rebuilt or Added on it's the most Realistic way to get past Enemy Lines. The Current Requirements of Stealth is that you need to be Slow enough to not be Picked up on Radar, but your Radar Cross Section also has to be that of a Bumblebee's (0.005 square Meters). Most Modern Jets today are slower than those of the 1950's to the 1970's which makes it somewhat Harder to Track them unless you're in the Same area as they are. Having Angular Design Features can help as well as you might as well be Flying a Building through the Air faster than the Speed of Sound. The problem with camo is that any voxel deformation is not only visible, but extremely obvious at ranges as great as 20km, that's right, kilometers

Not only that, but the target detection in the game will completely defeat camo.

In the Automatons Beta this worked as a way to hide from drones controlled via the new blocks, though that could have simply been the buggy nature of said beta. It can also mess with script-controlled missiles to a degree...

windows reflect some skyboxes very well so you can sorta create active camo, but the window frames stick out like a sore thumb so you need a mod to remove them and a mod to change the skybox

I tried the stealth box in January 2021 and got shot to shreds!! :) So I tried the cloaking mod and crashed my PC by trying to fly right up to boarding range... The guns like to target other guns and players usually..

Also interesting ideas about infiltrating with hijacked or gifted grid. If its gifted it can be removed/deleted outright by the receiving faction in the settings I think, but hijacking is kinda clever. Both require the faction to notice that something is off. Kinda spicy covert tactic, I like it. Also will keep in mind to take measures against infiltration.

Stealing Enemy vehicle is a legit warfare tactic though. Might be frowned upon but it does have multiple real life equivalents.

What if you assigned the components to "Nobody"? Unless they have their turrets to attack neutrals, you'd be golden (I guess).

For vanilla it's more of just using rotating decoys. For non vanilla you can use the Cloaking mod. I've never yet tried the Cloaking mod.

@@DemeterHUN From recent testing the decoys are not actually distracting turrets fire. I was hoping it would be fixed so I didn't have to cover it in a video but it seems to still be an issue.

I don't think it matters which direction the camouflage is in space you might be able to achieve the same effect with some lighting

An enemy cockpit on a friendly grid =/= a "neutral". Or the other way around.

@@user-bk1db3nn3y I'm aware of that... but there is a check box (when setting up the turret) to turn "target neutral grid on or off" and its easy to forget about.

it would give a reason to add a self destruct button to your ships. I do think it's interesting that you are disappointed that the stealth mechanic doesn't work. However, it's wrong to steal a ship to do the same thing a stealth ship would do. Even though stealing an enemy ship is more risky than building a stealth ship. Why is stealth ships acceptable but stolen ships not?

Welp. One reason would be that stealth ships require a lot of work to be done and their hulls configuration makes it almost impossible to use weapons on it. A stoñen ship means u steal the work of other person to then to use their work against them + u can add guns everywhere

​@@simplementepersona I would think that it would take a bit of work to steal someone ship. just more of a hist or battle savige instead of building. as for the using where own work against them, I see that as pvp. people want to destroy your stuff all the time on pvp. as for the adding guns, that's kind of true. though I don't think you can't add more guns then there are original components, as that may flip your friend or foe. though you are right that a stolen ship would more combat effective than a stealth ship.

@@Gesync theres why it is morally questionable. Using a stolen ship gives u invisibility to enemy turrets, allows u to do false flag attacks and has no disadvantages. Stealth ships are for stealth. They are more balanced that a normal ship that simply no gets targeted

if you set the stealth armor to another faction and the armor has more than your ship the turrets will stop targeting

Ive been trying to find a way to sneak up to enemies after the new patches. You’re saying that if the stealth grid has more blocks than my ship I’m golden? Does its faction matter?

Abusing? Moral compass? wtf! When you get your hands on an enemy grid, the enemy can at any time still delete it, right? That is part of the game mechanics as is the case with taking over a ship by hacking the cokcpit. What one does with it has nothing to do with morals, but with imagination. Sure on your server you can (ab)use your powers to impose your morals in form of some arbitrary rules. Fact remains, the party missing a ship didn't pay attention enough, while the others were just smarter than them.

soo shield mod or cloak mob also cheating i dont have any of those mods just asking... Because in a lot of space movies the running theory are capture enemy ship use ship against enemy... was also used in some cases in WW1 and WW2... lol 😜.

Abusing game physics with neutral armor blocks is ok. But stealing someone's ship to bypass sensors isn't ok. I just can't get you, man.

This hijack trick should NOT work on safe zones. SZ should be the best tool it can be to prevent offlining and it isn't. Humble opinion over.

If you somehow get some of your components into the middle of a Enemy ship, will the Enemies ships teamates turrets then shoot down that ship to reach the component?
