My story has lived happily in my mind for over 5 years, I just don't feel I'm good enough to write it how it deserves to be written. Special genuine advice for those of us who struggle, cheers ✌️

Same for me, my story has been 5 years in my head, so I started to write simple stories, to make better the main one.

I literally never comment on KZbin videos, but this was absolutely and utterly brilliant. It’s probably the best video I’ve ever watched on KZbin to date. Even though the themes of my story cover embracing the analytical and passionate, the rational vs. instinctual, this was a huge wake up call and reminder that I need to simply create as a child. I was caught up writing my hook for my story, sidetracked by my ambition of perfection when in reality the only objective is to create. I remember when I would draw comic books for no real reason when I was 5-7 years old. It wasn’t to impress anyone, or to write the next classic to be studied endlessly by film students; it was simply to get it out, for I simply couldn’t help it. How you weave Carl Jung’s study of the subconscious mind, and how we as artists use our art as a vehicle to bring the unconscious (the shadow) to the forefront of conscious thought and achieve self mastery/self awareness was also brilliantly put. It also reminded me on a totally different level of why I even want to create a manga to begin with; because I never would have bothered understand psychology, the psyche of the human mind, and appreciate the philosophical elements in this video if I never had a reason to study them in the first place. Thank you, genuinely.

You are great, you addressed the issue spot on. As you said, if we let ourselves speak freely, we will be surprised of how much great themes we will discover. The best story is dwelling there inside all of us, a dormant volcano waiting , imprisoned, hidden in the subconscious.

I had a zoom meeting with you and I have always never been good at talking much as I am socially awkward, but writing has been my way of expressing myself, this video helps a lot, Ive been struggling with this script and its been in my mind for 2 years now and Ive finally started actually writing it yesterday after countless days of structuring it out. Writing is my life and it is very important to me. I will finish this script and I just want to thank you for this video and it helped me a lot in taking this script further.

Hello Tyler! Just wanted to say, i’m from Norway, and a big fan of your videos! In 2021, I started watching your videos to learn about writing. Since then, I have sold a film script and had it produced, I have written an audio drama short for a podcast, which was also produced. And this summer I received financial support from the Norwegian Cultural Council to write a theater play, and working on that for the moment! Hard work pays off, but it all started with your videos. Thank you for inspiring me! 🥰

Wow! Tyler … that was one inspired rant. Naturally, thank you as always. I could go on but I would just be echoing/ repeating all the praise people here have been saying here already. Instead, on a lighter note … I noticed that the message flowed so naturally, I thought to myself, this guy could be an evangelist preacher on TV if the screenwriting thing doesn’t work out. Haha. And more than that … I thought you should summarise all this into a 4-minute rap song … we know you like the hip hop stuff already. Jokes aside … uber gratitude for what you do. Way ahead of your years.

Yes inspiring. I will add as someone a decade further down the path than you that the hardest part of writing isn't writing, it's getting paid to do so consistently. Perhaps the best attribute a writer can develop is the ability to self promote even in the face of outright ridicule.

I have no problem writing all I think is necesary, but I fear other readers will feel that my story is incomplete. Since my story is about unrequited love, which can happen in any setting, I don't feel the need to make the characters interact with the enviroment that much, so I fear the reader will feel that the story happens in a void. Any advice? Thank you!

Tyler you are right now THE definite guru for writers. Everyone else doing what you do is boring and way older and looking for money and connected not caring about us or helping. You wont always be able to give one on one time because once you yourself sell a script and work in film you will abandon us forever. You are John Lennon and The Beatles are coming. We await your Steve Jobs rise as you make your stuff sold into some sort of app or who knows. Just know I Reynel Martinez am going to miss your videos and sorry for being an ahole about the fact that DAMN I didnt like the cult script much. But thats because Im trying to get you to sell it to Hollywood already so you can change the world and have all of us see you as the next Tarantino and Smith.

I finished you do it now **INT. BATHROOM - NIGHT** We see an English-style toilet from below, and the camera pans up to reveal a young man's feet on the seat, then his face. He looks through a hole in the door, both annoyed and scared, covering his mouth to hold his breath as the sound of someone being strangled (murdered) continues behind the door for a few seconds. **V.O.** Kamel, have you ever had that moment where you feel like you're living in a nightmare of your own making? Mine? It was a fart. Footsteps fade into the distance. The young man lets out a fart, holding his mouth after a second of silence. **CRIMINAL (O.S.)** I heard you. (pauses) Who's there? **YOUNG MAN (O.C.)** Frustration is clear on his face and in his eyes. He shakes his head left and right (no). I'm alone (pauses) I didn't see anything (another fart escapes as he struggles). I promise I won't tell anyone. **CRIMINAL** Footsteps. Your voice doesn't reassure me. **YOUNG MAN** Close-up of the young man's face as he still tries to hide. **V.O.** With a little luck... A phone rings. **CRIMINAL (O.S.)** Hello? **VOICE** The police are here. Footsteps fade into the distance. **V.O.** I escaped the nightmare with a story and a red face.
