Eh, I never fell in love with it, I always found the firepower underwhelming and while it turned well, it never did exactly what I wanted it to do. By no means am I saying it's a bad plane, but it just isn't the right fit for me.

I just played my first match with this plane 5 minutes ago. It preforms really well for being stock, looking forward to flying it once it is spaded. France is the 6th nation I am grinding and another reason I won't touch the American tech tree. You get American Planes and Tanks in every other tech tree and usually the better version on top of it. I will probably grind the Americans last. (Sherman's and P-47's...Sherman's and P-47's everywhere).

The thing I've found about the 37mm on the P-63 is that it'll shoot straight and true for around 2-4 shots, and then it'll start going wild. I tend to prefer using the 37mm over my 50 cals for longer range because all it takes is a single hit to cripple the enemy plane. That being said, I am a ground forces player, so it could be that the pilots I fight against just aren't very good at flying and make it a lot easier to pull off 1km+ hits. It also could be that my thought of "long range fire" is in fact very close range for air RB.

It's the perfect tool to kill wehraboos with. What else is there to say about it? It's hilarious seeing someone go "German Engineering is the greatest of all" (bit of paraphrase cause I can't remember the exact thing they said) and proceed to die 3 times in a row on a 1v1 with their pesky 109 F-4 against this thing. The best part is that the 109 kept turning and turning, no energy game.

With the unreal climb rate and that nasty cannon, the 63's are born bomber slayers. The only real weakness is crappy ballistics on the cannon, but against slow clumsy bombers that problem is pretty much irrelevant. When I go bomber hunting in my 63's, the other team bleeds bombers as fast as they care to spawn them in.

The 37 mm is something that takes time to get used to. While you affectionately referred to it as a turd, I don't necessarily agree - while it's very low velocity at only 610 m/s, its HEFI-T shell actually has _more explosive filler_ than similar shells used by the Yak-9T's NS-37 cannon, meaning that if it does hit, it's a very meaty explosion. The accuracy also isn't as bad if you fire very selectively, in single shot bursts or maybe two or three shells in a salvo, which is to say that first-shot accuracy is usually pretty decent, but as the cannon "warms up" the accuracy becomes almost random.

An even better way of killing bombers with the 37 is aiming for their wings, which is where their fuel tanks are at usually. Multiple fuel fires on a single wing of a bomber is always extremely satisfying. Serves those space climbing twats right. However I ain't saying every bomber is a space climber, not that they have a choice for a chance at survival anyway.

I just dont like this plane, the low velocity cannon is very annoying to aim, it just loves to get into stupid flat spins and it suddenly decides to handle like a bus if you lose your speed. It's definitely undertiered but that doesn't make it fun to fly

My bf 109 f4 and yak 3 usually steal the lunch money of every US plane apart from maybe only xp50 if I have gunpods on my 109. I have even killed p51h's and f8f in ground rb using 109 f4

So the 37mm in the king cobras used to be amazing and shoot true for the first 5 rounds or so and then it was spammed when ussr got one as an even premium. The snail then nurfed the lethality and accuracy because people complained.

The P63 is very good, but these planes SUCK in the vertical at low speeds. They fall out of the air, so you have to be careful.

I use both in my realistic gb lineup. I prefer the P-63 because I love the 37mm and better low altitude maneuvering. Like spit said, the high altitude energy retention is better in the P-51C. Depends on what playsyle you prefer. Also, the P-63 gets 3x 500lb bombs while the P-51C gets 2x.

I just got the thing and have around 40 games in it spaded too. So far I haven't actually had the chance to fight a Mk 9 yet so I sadly can't relate.
