Composite restorations are challenging, and there are many different matrix systems out there. I have tried a lot of them. My favorite so far is from a company called Greater Curve; they make a tofflemire band that is specifically for composites. Check out the video for some examples of the Greater Curve technique and why I like it so much.
This is not a sponsored video, but if you want to check out these bands:

@@BeyondDentistry Haha no problem! Your product (e.g. loupe, cerec) review videos were awesome and very insightful, I'd definitely like to see more of those. Also, as a new grad I really liked how you shared your personal experienced of CE and it gave me a couple of ideas. I definitely liked the video on shade matching, that was helpful! On top of that, maybe an office tour? Haha and the story behind your practice/career? What worked/didn't work for you, what you would have tried differently?

I’m using Palodent sectional for probably over half of my posterior composites. One thing I’ve found that helps is pre-wedging the teeth while you prep. This retracts the gingiva apically which exposes those deeper gingival margins for your matrix and it also keeps the bur off the tissue and therefore limits bleeding

Thank you for a great product! If you haven't yet considered the design, I modify the standard band into a "margin elevation" band fairly often. It works surprisingly well.

You can actually use a standard matrix band if you have a good wedge & burnishing technique, the key is to press the ball on the band to the adjacent tooth as you make your 1st increments of comp.. I get a really good proximal contact every single time.. Nice Channel bro.. GO TITANS!! ;)

Hey Adam, just came across your channel and it’s fast becoming my favorite dental channel. I like the honest and concise delivery of the info you put out. I’m looking forward to you bringing more specialists on and hoping we can hear from an endodontist soon. Thanks for all the work you do and keep ‘em coming!

I know this is a year later, however, in my very last left molar, I had a cavity that created a hole behind the tooth but big enough dentist that my mom has been working for for a years. I had to use the silver filling because of my small mouth but he saved me from a root canal and I am forever grateful

I'm a CDA at an office that uses mostly sections and disposable matrix bands and going into EFDA school this September, though I have never seen the greater curve matrix bands I would like to try them and hope I get the chance to. Thanks for the inspiring video!

In France, we don't see amalgam at all in dental school. We consider them completely outdated. Funny to see that dental school in US feel different about it

Hi donYXD, thanks for reaching out, that really means a lot. Long story short - I just got super busy over the last year and a half (mostly kids and some self-study in computer science). I do want to make some more videos, but my interest has really shifted to technology. I actually was planning on doing a video on the ways AI will impact dentistry (it definitely will). Thank you so much for the kind words!

@@donyxd3365 Not at all, I'm still 100% full-time dentistry for the foreseeable future! Tech is a hobby right now, but there is some cool stuff coming to dentistry (there is already software that can read xrays for example).

I just checked the website, looks like $54 for 96 bands. You could always reach out to the company, in the past they have given out samples to dentists who are interested.

If you are not using a sectional matrix then you are not doing the best you can for the patients. You are making it easier for you maybe.
