Still Worth Buying DJI Phantom 4 in 2022/23?

I always wanted to buy the DJI Phantom 4, but I couldn't afford it at the time. While searching on eBay, I found this drone and bought it. Will this drone still fly?

So glad you did this video. I’ve owned a phantom 4 since 2016. I did a lot of flying here in the states and in Scotland. Stopped flying about 2 years ago, because l started working with another pilot which allowed me to just shoot and edit. I have been wanting to start flying again , but did not know if I should purchase a newer drone. Seeing this video reminded me of how capable the P4 is at getting great aerial footage. Just got it out of the case and have it charging. Thanks again.

If you didn't fly it for a few years and didn't charge the batteries at least once a month, you will be surprised. I lost 4 batteries this way - if you don't keep them charged, apparently they die, and DJI doesn't fix and doesn't replace them. New one is around $200.

The p4 is big and noisy but you have to remember it is a very powerful drone and it’s very fast in sport mode if you need. It’s a very capable drone with a great camera. I’ve been flying my p4 advanced since 2017. I still have it and it still fly’s like it’s brand new. The new mini 3 series from dji are awesome drones but in a heavy enough wind, they can get blown away where the phantom 4 series have the power and weight to handle much heavier wind. I know this first hand as I almost lost a mini 3 in a heavy wind. Luckily I was able to get it back just barely. The phantom 4 on the other hand flew in that very same wind and handled it no problem due to it’s awesome power and it’s weight. My phantom 4 is a great drone and I would never sell mine. If someone can find a good deal on on a good working used p4, I absolutely recommend buying one. Just make sure it’s in good working condition.

@@shaunthedrone Yes sir. Your video gives a great tribute to the phantom 4 which it deserves. It’s one of the greatest ever made. It’s extremely reliable even after 6 years of flying. It has those great powerful enclosed brushless motors that turn those big high pitch propellers with ease. Those propellers really bite the air hard. I have a newer, quieter, more advanced mini 3 which is an awesome little drone but the phantom 4 is a proven all time great. It’s like a p51 Mustang of the drone world.

Nice to watch your video and glad you were happy with the drone. I have been flying my P4Advanced since I bought it new in 2018 and I am always amazed by the performance, picture quality, build quality and power to handle hight wind speeds with ease. Also have the Mini 3 Pro as an everyday flyer but although very capable it is so compromised with "safety measures" that its hopeless for serious use. With Litchi and NLD software and you have the ideal setup, impossible to achieve with modern hobby drones from any source. The only drawback is that it is noisier than modern types but as I would likely be flying in remote areas or over the sea this hasn't been a problem.

If you upgrade your drone to the 4 pro you get 20 megapixels and 1 inch sensor with an analog shutter f2.8-11 aperture. I’ve owned a few, and now have the phantom4 pro plus edition. I will never trade this model in even though I have the Mavic 3 and mini pro models. I would miss it terribly because of its rock solid capabilities. The only thing I would suggest to you is changing your props to the Master Airscrew Stealth models. Cuts down on the noise quite a bit. Cheers and happy aviating!!! 😊😊😊😊

Great drone, flying this until now, but one of its problem i mostly encountered is the weakness of its signal that always automatically returns to homepoint

@@shaunthedrone Thanks Shaun! I just picked up a Phantom 3 Advance for $150.00 CDN. It came with two batteries and came in a DJI backpack. The back pack alone sells for $250.00 CDN 🇨🇦 bought it at a Pawn shop. The owner of the shop is originally from Australia 🇦🇺 New that quad sold for $1500.00 here. It’s all working fine, the radio transmitter and the quad!

Would this be a good investment if I already have a mini 2? One of my buddies is giving me a good deal on a Phantom 4 Pro and I kind of want to buy it. I know it does have more capabilities and such, but is quite bigger than the mini 2. The main reason I’m wanting to buy it is because I feel that I would be getting a lot of value out of what I’m paying. On the other hand, I don’t want to waste the money since I already have a solid drone.

Good question and one you can only make. The Phantom 4 Pro, is a solid drone and still on the market, manly used now for mapping. Me personally, it's a big heavy drone, it's loud and you need a big bag to carry it. Where as the Mini 2, could fit in your pocket! I will be sharing my thoughts on the DJI Mini 3 Pro, best drone on the market for the everyday flyer. Good luck with your decision :)

@@shaunthedrone Okay! Thanks for your thoughts, Shaun. I am wanting to get into real estate videography and mapping/photogrammetry, so I might just pick up the Phantom 4 Pro as well. The Mini 2 is really solid for just filming but the Phantom 4 Pro seems like it has more capability in terms of accurately mapping an area. I am going to go check it out tonight and make my decision if I want to buy it.

Hi, I've only flown it once and the picture quality was very good. What I did notice that when flying forward in speed, the props are seen in the video, while the new drones don't. I will be making more videos of the Phantom 4 later in the year. Enjoy flying your new drone :)

The P4 seems to be holding its own. I think it will hold its value with its capabilities. I am concerned with the Nov 2023 remote I’d requirements that will come out here in the states. May ground some even more recent drones.

there is already an FAA approved addon module albeit its 300 bucks, i would think you could put it on a p4p or whatever drone, more modules should come out i would think

Hi, sorry to hear about your P4, true about spare parts. When I had my Phantoms, I used to crash them and getting spare parts was a nightmare, there was people about that used to fix but that was years ago and I would imagine spare parts are rare. If it's a good price and you love the P4/Advanced get it or maybe go for a newer drone, which would be smaller, less weight - it's your choice :)

Hey, I don't have a Phantom 4, nor any DJI drones except for the Ryze Tello which is powered but not made by DJI. I do have a DJI Osmo Action 3, and looking on the footage that you recorded I think it's in a flat color profile mode. It's meant for editing and color grading but if you don't want to do that switch back to normal color profile :D

Try downloading the app again Roy, or if you have the Litchi app, give that a go. If all else fails, contact DJI Support :)

Its not the app, but more the device your using to fly it with. Newer Android phones (past 2-3 years) no longer support the Go 4 app. If you have an older phone/tablet laying around you can get the app and it will work just fine. I use 5 & 6th Gen apple tablets and Samsung Galaxy 8 phone and another older Android tablet that works perfectly.

Hello! I just bought a DJI Mini 4 Pro. I was thinking about selling my Phantom 4 Pro but... It is a beast. I´ve used it just a few times (size is a matter) but for some jobs it is a great drone. So I am thinking about not selling for a few bucks a keeping it. Regards from Spain too!! :P
