girl I so get it, like me too. I literally love to wait until like the last page of the last book in a 6 book series for the couple to actually develop a relationship, and I feel like it makes it more valuable and logical that way, not them to just have s*x within the first few chapter for the sake of their relationship to develop soon.

We all knew what was going to happen & I think that's why we liked it so much it definitely felt like a Rom-com

There's certainly a blueprint for an interesting dynamic with dragon politics in this series given that Rebecca wanted to make a setting where dragons have pet humans rather than the other way around. The problem is she does nothing with this and I don't necessarily blame her because the implications of humans being the unwitting slaves of dragons are going to distract way too much from the romance she wants to write. The problem is that, in that case, she shouldn't have introduced the Empyrean as a concept in the first place or even made the dragons sapient. I know everyone is gushing over the sapient dragons, but if you make them act like big dogs or cats then I guarantee you they'll be too overwhelmed by the cuteness to care.

It’s just overpriced for its everything. Honestly.
