You can count me as well as impressed with Lynda Carter as an actor. She was the restrained professional journalist who had suspicions, and who displayed them on her face, but didn't say them aloud. Angie Dickson was excellent as well, as the ambitious but conflicted Senator.

When I saw Rod Holcomb's 1987 TV version of Mary Higgins Clark's "Stillwatch," the performances are astonishing, the locations were pretty cool because everything else I've always expected in a TV movie and more. Rights of "Stillwatch" were now at the hands of Universal Studios in the United States & Canada while both Lionsgate and Hearst Entertainment were received on their behalf of this from June 1997 to present.

Up until the 1970s TV shows had entire music bands or sometimes even full violin players doing the background music in TV shows and motion pictures. In the 1980s like in this movie, movie studios started using one person only on piano/synthesizer to do all the music for TV shows to save money. That's why the background music sounds so shitty.

Plenty of suspense and Lynda Carter was a very good actress, but...realistically, a killer, whether cold-blooded or spur-of-the-moment, would not spend time explaining the details of his motives to the victim as in the finale of this movie and many others.

Poorly written screenplay. You know that there will be a connection between the two main plot lines, but when it is finally revealed, the connection is so coincidental and implausible that you feel cheated. There is also a sub plot concerning the woman's ex-flame that adds nothing to the film.
@sharoncox47762 жыл бұрын
Dreadful!!! So easy to see what is coming!!!
@meofamily411 ай бұрын
This is an unfair criticism of a movie made from a book. It wasn't the screenplay, but the book that established the plot. Now, as with many Mary Higgins Clark books, this one has independent female characters faced with a threatening mystery, and it is solved, with a bit of violence, in the final scene. It's a best-selling pattern: post-Womens-Movement women want to be perceived as independent and autonomous, and able to solve the mystery as encountered; the mystery has to involve danger, however, because that's the genre. Both of the female leads here did a superb job of representing competent, ambitious, autonomous women with a certain degree of vulnerability. As for the plot -- it's standard that the person you least suspect is the villain in the end.

Oh, this took me back to precious days of childhood. On a day out during a weekend, Dad would take us all out to have fun for about 5 hours in the woods. We eat there, play and explore. By the time we’re back home the sun would be down. The reason Mom always turned the doorstep lights on in broad daylight before we hit the road.☺️ We did it once too when we all flew away for a week long vacation. People should leave lights on so their houses wouldn’t be robbed despite the fact that some robbers would look out for houses whose lights are lit in daylight. It indicates that the house is.. empty. 😈

I really like Lynda Carter, but having read the book, she was too mature for this role. She also came across as stuck up and snobbish to me, MHC is my favourite author, I have all her books including her collabs and short stories and I have enjoyed most of her movie depictions, but honestly I did not enjoy this one no matter how much I tried, I lost interest. Angie Dickenson was great though!
@myriamguns21622 жыл бұрын
The main character seems to sleep fully made up. Saves time before bed but her pillow must be smeared in the morning. And she obviously hasn't taken to heart the fact that it's really bad for your skin. Then again, she's being filmed and probably cleans her skin thoroughly at night in real life... Only half way through and surely the weather cannot remain this windy all the time. Good acting by a young Linda Carter.
