Justin and myself set out on a eight hour trip to Ellerdine Lakes. Ellerdine has four lakes and is a go to for so many anglers. And it is easy to see why. There stocking policy and what they stock is so impressive, giving every body a chance of a fish of a life time. Whether it be Browns, Blues, Spartics, Tigers, Rainbows and a few surprises. These waters at times will have colour. So we will go through points on catching in these conditions. Hope you enjoy the video, and consider subscribing. Many thanks. Shaun.

Thanks Joe it means a lot to me to hear this. I have just started on which I hope will be a series of videos based on fishing Spring. I may be taken on more than I can handle at the moment, as I have a lot of private life stuff I have to deal with. But I am going to try. Really nice to hear from you. Take care Joe. Shaun.

Catching fish is not as difficult as catching Justin. But the fishing was made a bit easier due to the stocking they do there. Its a great water and well worth a trip of four hours each way. Thanks for the comment Martin. Shaun.

@@Rwils999 Those early ones are something else. I really did not have a clue about how to. Fishing was never a problem. But this channel was never intended. It just snow balled. And then there are people like your self that put time aside to watch and comment. I can not let you down. so we move on. And I will continue to learn photography and computers. Mind that part is slow for me. I would love to do more, but at the moment this is my limit. I spend so long putting this stuff together. I did think of doing more simple stuff, which I have seen on KZbin. But to be honest this is where I would rather be.

Hi Shaun, I’ve tried my best to tie the Ellerdine mongral , but I had to use yellow Fritz and olive bead . I managed to work out what I thought your pattern was. It took me a while to find the barred marabou. I will give it a workout at Ellerdine next time I go, hopefully in the next few weeks. All the best to you and the boys. I will let you know how I go on ,hopefully have a few fish to mention.
@shaunfishes101

Honestly I don't think the colour is an issue. I am not totally convinced when in darker waters. Bulk and water displacement is the main thing here. A few things I do with the Ellerdine. One turn the bead the opposite way round. Make sure the hook eye does not slip inside. Two, when tying in the last of marabou, I don't cut off the waist at the head or bead. I trim it to about 3/16 or a bit more. Fold it back and whip finish in front. Doing these two things will create more water movement. Good look mate. Catch up soon. Shaun.

The boys and myself love our annual trip to garnffrwd. We have booked this March for a week. Its as much about the banter as the fishing. I hope you and your mate from plymouth can do this, where ever it is. Don't expect it to happen. Just sort the dates and do it. The boys and myself started out doing a few days. But time goes so fast. So its always a week now. If it turns out to be Ellerdine you wont be disappointed. But check when they are open for fishing, as they close for a period in summer. And who knows you could be landing a corker. Take care Stuart mate and thanks. Shaun.

Be good just to see you on the water again. Last time up there I did bring my Salmon net, which made Justin's fish look small. I was out of sorts on this day, and forgot quite a few things. But it was a great day. Yes the fish was very big and well into doubles. Yes really looking forward to trip to Garnffrwd. Regardless of how the fishing goes, its going to be great fun.

HI shaun. Yet another great video, Ellerdine Lakes is a good distance away but looks well worth the journey. The double figure trout you had looked quite a solid fish and i think it was a little bit more heavier than what you had said to me when we last saw each other, i would have added another 2lb at least to that figure. Another video with a lot of advice and info. Will see you soon.
@shaunfishes101
@shaunfishes101 6 ай бұрын
Hi Mate, Cant remember what size I said. More than likely just say a double. But yes for certain it was well over 10 lbs. But I am comfortable saying a double. The trip for you getting there will be a lot easier than mine. You have a good road. I have a bendy bumpy lumpy road, with lots of welsh high speed 20mph crap. Our water froze over the other day. And just by luck Exmoor delivered the day before. Mind he almost got stuck while there. Oh the line is free, as you gave Arran those flies and fly box. Thank you so much. Will see you soon mate.

@shaunfishes101 if I remember correctly, I think you said it looked about 11 to 12, but going by what I saw in the video, I would have said about 14. On Google Maps, it said roughly a 7-hour round trip, so it's not too bad. As for the flies Arran had, he was doing me a favour by having them. Flies are meant to be used, not rot away in the back of a cupboard. Speak to you soon.

@@markbutt1942 Honestly I do think 14 is close. MM I thought it might have been a bit quicker than that. Mind perhaps the man on google drives like you. Oh I was going to say the same about the line.

@@JonFisher-ql6xe Don't get the opportunity much. Big and dark. Did watch a video a bit ago on Lol's fishing Adventures. That was successful on the day. A black snake on top. Check it out, if you already have not. For a lot of the time it really is about being in the right place at the right time. When Justin and I fished this water they have every thing in there. Justin hit about every thing on his small lure or sort of cormorant thing. Me all I had was browns and rainbows. The patterns were much the same. It will happen one day mate. Keep at it. Shaun.

Hi Shaun, Snowbee seem to have discontinued their braided leaders. Have you come across this and have you found any alternatives. All the ones I can find are a tad too long, and not braided. I’ll be interested in your thoughts on future coloured waters as I regularly fish at Ellerdine. Cheers.

I have had a quick look around. Putting in furled leaders in the search can help. Roman mosser are quite good. I have a few of them. Can't remember how long they are. But its the intermediate we need most. I think the down side to anybody supplying. Is that they last so long. I had no idea that you fished Ellerdine. Boy are you lucky. Its a great water. Could not believe how busy this place can get. Justin and myself have already started on patterns for coloured waters. There are a few things we have considered. But its going to take a long time to come up with anything. And that's if we do. Thanks for the comment Michael. Take care mate. Shaun.
