The washing line is an extremely effective method for stillwater trout fishing. Using a floating point fly to suspend your cast, it allows you to place several buzzers or other similar patterns on the dropper, which is deadly when there's a hatch. In this video, Howard Croston explains his method for fishing the washing line and some of the new fly patterns he developed to improve the technique.
