Does anyone know where the introductory coda for Sting's version of "Angel Eyes" comes from? The bit that starts, "Have you ever had the feeling...?" This unique lyrical and musical passage doesn't feature in any other version of the song I've heard; nor does it appear to be part of Matt Dennis' / Earl Brent's original 1946 composition.

+Diogo Mascarenhas Andrade I'm not sure about being THAT realistic. Drinking one's self to death in 1 month, 2 bottles of vodka needed just to get started and have a shower?? That is not to take away from the excellence of the film though. It is one of my favourites and Cage thoroughly deserved his Oscar.
@F0SHEE7 жыл бұрын

WOW! fantastic to read words by listening this song I LOVE very much! music piano jazzy-cocktail! STING-Jazz period probably very good! Halas! I miss HIM in these TIMES! I was with Bill EVANS! never see STING at RISING SUN in MONTREAL! I met there all the best musicians jazzman there! even the jazzman dead suddenly ressuscited! I had read their book and pouf! no dead! the big names! in the metro when Louis AMSTRONG was appearing to me! supposed to be dead since decennies! houf...the life and all her lies! our friend Warren BEATTY a very good pianist from our Conservatory of Music in Montreal living again supposed to be dead appearing where STING was last year! His Juliette-LOUISE was traumatised to learn he was supposed dead! she was loving him so much! I hope she knows he is living again! Poor Louise! we were three girls from Conservatory living on the same floor in years 70! JP PINSON my genious prof of flute in wood! was coming there ...Léo FERRÉ too! Georges BRASSENS with his name MAURICE! was playing for me at CARRÉ ST-LOUIS hours on his flute in wood! all by heart! so nice melodies! Anybody knows Georges BRASSENS was very good on FLUTE A BEC! I was in EXTASE! among trees the sound of a flute in wood! wow! it was a forest before in Montreal! and he was very good too in theater! we did a game with him, he was the captain of a boat and we were CHAVIRING! he finds us good actresses! So! Good NIGHT! O so good rememberings! years 70! now 10 sept 2017/2 o'clock night! the silent blue NIGHT...The Past is fantastic with STING-songs!

Sting doing an "American Idol" version of "Angel Eyes." Uh-Uh. Sting should stick to the artsy Rock, or write another musical ("The Last Ship" was great and should have gotten a big audience) and leave standard ballads alone. His sound is too cold for "Angel Eyes" and he has to cover it with Streisand-like false sentiment. There are at least ten superb versions of "Angel Eyes" (Sinatra, the great Chet Baker, Ella Fitzgerald etc) This one is all "look at me" acting and not the intimate song it really is.
@Thorum136 жыл бұрын
You're wrong. This is an excellent version. Sting nails it.
@pumasgoya5 жыл бұрын
I bet to differ. Most people that hear this version will disagree with you. It is cold in a warm way. It's especially welcomed because it isn't expected...and that's what set it apart. I don't want just another version of this. I want the version that will bring songs like this to another kind of listener.
