The elderly person is Mr Quentin Crisp, the Englishman that the song is about. The song is about a gentleman retaining his dignity in the face of homophobia.

Think about it...If he is English then he has no need to be an illegal alien. England has everything any first world country would need and maybe one or two things extra you won’t get in the US - like free health care for example.

DexterNick 😂 STFU with your brainwashed low intellect. You realise the US has the WORST infection and death rate in the WORLD right now ? NYC - a city of 8m people - has almost as many deaths alone as the ENTIRE UK - a country of 65m people. Your backwards 2nd world country has more infections than the next 4 European countries COMBINED. covid19.who.int When it comes to global rankings of health conditions, the US ranks 59th in the world, behind countries like Uzbekistan, Mexico and Thailand 😂 . When it comes to global ranking of living conditions it ranks 29th in the world, behind places like Israel, Slovenia and Estonia😂😂 When it comes to global rankings of personal freedom, your so called, self-proclaimed “land of the free” sits 22nd behind places like Costa Rica, Uruguay and Malta 😂😂😂 Needless to say the top ranked countries in any category are mostly European. Here - eat your heart out: www.prosperity.com/rankings

@@AERallert The NHS is incredible. Why do Americans think it's free? It's not free, it has to be paid for. And it is... by our taxes. It means that people aren't hit with a huge bill (or indeed any bill). American healthcare prices are over priced.

The Old man in the vids is Quention Crisp who left Britain in the 1970s because of the Homosexual laws. He was persecuted and attacked because of his appearance and for his outspoken views of being Gay.

Sex between men was legalized in England and Wales in 1967. Over a decade before it was in New York. In fact, it was still illegal in some US states until 2003! He actually moved from London where it was legal, to New York, where it wasn't. He went to New York because it had more of an ambivalent attitude to being gay at the time.
@kolnman35823 жыл бұрын
@@sandgrownun66 Isn't that what I said in my comment.
@sandgrownun663 жыл бұрын
@@kolnman3582 No. There was no longer any law in England against gay sex, when he moved to New York. Oddly, he actually moved to a place, where it was still illegal! It was just that the attitudes at the time in New York, were more relaxed to being openly gay.

I saw him at the Prince of Wales’ Theatre, London in 1979, following the TV drama of his life, prior to moving to NYC. Yes, he spoke eloquently of his earlier (persecuted) life, but was upbeat , very witty and looking to future.
