For the 2nd game, there is a very popular theory that has been going on and might be related to the lore of the game It goes this way : So clair is the main characters girlfriend / wife and she broke up with him ( maybe cheating ) to which people believe he killed her in anger. The guy cant accept it so he kidnaps a girl from his neighborhood and traps her in his house and the kidnapped girl also dies of either starvation or he choked her to death ( because of her face in the denial ending ). Many days after killing the girl, he started to feel guilt and he started hallucinating which drove him insane after each day. In denial ending ( the one sting got ) : the guy is in denial ( he refuse to believe he killed them ), still hallucinating thinking the girl he kidnapped is still alive and then sleeps next with her dead body thinking clair is finally with him. In the truth ending : It is clear the girl he kidnapped is a victim and police are searching for her. Then a jumpscare pops up with clair having a distorted face which leads to believing clair is actually dead and now haunting the guy for what he did to her. When the tv says "how long has it been? 3 days? 7 weeks?" means the tv is questioning how long did his hallucinations drove him insane and the term "you need to let her go" means he needs to confess his crime to the police that he killed the 2 girls and let go of his denial After that we can also see the kidnapped girl looking at the guy through the window ( probably she is the one who made the tv said that )

The Severance reminds me a little bit of Beneath the Skin by Cecelia Condit (the same filmmaker who created Possibly in Michigan). It's about a woman's thoughts towards discovering that her boyfriend of four years was hiding the corpse of his deceased ex-girlfriend in his closet. It's pretty dark, and it's based off of Condit's actual experience dating Ira Einhorn, a man who murdered his ex-girlfriend and also hid her corpse in his closet (it actually may or may not be a totally autobiographical film). Skin and Severance don't really share the same plotlines, but I find it interesting how they have that in common.
