I can't see a use for any engine that isn't rear exhaust. Other than canister manufacturers compatibility, but headers are made rear exhaust too. I just figured out why side exhausts are needed, the heads are used in larger boxes twins, 2 x 20cc 40cc, 2 x 35cc 70cc, 2 x 55cc. 111cc , It's a room issue. Too
