Lol yes they are a mad looking fish for sure. I love them for the most part they really give a good scrap specially in the shallows. Plus it's the only fish I genuinely think I've a shot at the irish record with

I think I just realised where this exact mark is and I am delighted. I have never fished it but always fancied it as a Stinger mark.

There is only one way to find out if your right 😜😜 don't get cut off by the tide and the sand bars if you haven't fished there before
@garylawlor22883 жыл бұрын
@@Inshore_Angler cheers for the advice, I am always extremely careful about getting cut off by the tide, and know it will happen here if one is not careful. Can I ask does it only fish for ray in August or would it be worth a backup for next week if the usual spots are weeded out? I am fairly sure I know the mark as I used to stay in the area for a week in the summer and I would have been near there for a different purpose 😉
@Inshore_Angler3 жыл бұрын
@@garylawlor2288 lol if your other purpose had a delightful room that was green your on the right path. I have only had bass off it this early in the year but there should be rays near it all the time it's the perfect ground for them

Hi Chris, great catch, how long have stingrays been around the south west coast? Can you eat Stingray?
@Inshore_Angler4 жыл бұрын
From what I can gather they started to show up in the late 70s and early 80s. Like crocodile Dundee said you can eat them but they taste like shit 😂. I personally wouldn't kill any of the rays I just really love the look of them.

Class bit of action there buddy. Was hoping to get down that way after them but seems like half of Ireland has flocked to Kerry this year for there holidays. Might get down later in the year but will probably be a bit late for the Stingers by then. Do you catch painted ray there most of the year or is it mainly the summer months?
@Inshore_Angler4 жыл бұрын
That's the beauty and pain of kerry the whole of Ireland is indeed down here and most have bought camper vans during lock down by the looks of it. 😂. Painted are more prevalent Sept Oct and November in my opinion around here. Its still possible to get a stinger then but you need to get lucky

Nice one Chris, how come you had to play your one so much in the shallows?
@Inshore_Angler4 жыл бұрын
It's hard to tell from the video but my one would of been double the weight of the one jp got. Some of them just come in nice and handy and others go ballistic. When they turn to go and the line ends up under them there is a chance of pulling the hook or their weight breaking your hook length so more care is needed
