Stingray with multicoil pickup and NFP filter preamp

Brian goes through his Stingray bass where he's made some experiments with. The pickup is an unidentified multicoilpickup. It is possible that the coils are wired one humbucker per string and then, all four in parallel, but, it's just an educated guess.
The preamp is a first generation NFP with a boost on the cutoff frequency point located on a separate toggle switch.

What pickup is this? There's some nice soft distortion going on here...is that from the preamp in the bass, the amplifier, the Darkglass...?

its the hot signal hitting the preamp of the Mesa, so amp distortion+microphone distortion in the room.

Is this the NFP or the NFP special in this bass?

That is a great question. Even though it is the NFP-Special, it is wired as a regular NFP. This means that this multicoil pickup has a single hot signal and therefore Brian is using only one of the inputs on the Special preamp.

Can i ask what are the 2 switches for?

Brian mentions it on the video. One of the switches is a Passive/Active switch. The other switch is the Peak Resonance Boost on the NFP preamp. On the first units, as it's the case on this video, this was an external switch. This feature is now part of the Filter controls set as a push-pull built in switch.
