My ray died from Hurricane Sandy, 3 weeks no electricity. She was a Peruvian Flower Ray. Had her for about 5 years. She was gorgeous. I cried.

Thanks for sharing this moment Kevin, it is never easy to make videos of the things that go wrong. I like seeing the good with the bad because we can learn as much from the things that don't go right as from the things that go perfectly. Everyone who is a fish keeper, whether they have a 10 gallon tank or an entire facility knows that death is just sometimes an unavoidable fact of the hobby, no matter how careful and loving you are with your fish. I love seeing the whole family working together! Oy deserves that dinner!
@StingrayBiology4 жыл бұрын
Yes i agree with you, but sometimes its tough because there are people always judging my every move. Lol...

@@StingrayBiology don't listen to the keyboard warriors. Everyone thinks they are an expert and knows your whole operation just because they saw a few 10 min videos. It's easy to judge and criticize from behind a screen, but just know that for every critic you have 10 people that love what you are doing, we just aren't as loud LOL.

Lesson learned in this situation is that in the future all rays above 10yrs old must be placed on a separate tank, also do the same with rays above 15 yrs old. Never mixed old rays with younger ones. Often times we really need to loose a favorite pet in order for us to identify wrong practices in the hobby world then innovate to make it better in the future.

My heart goes out to Oy and the girls, that was a difficult thing to deal with. I hope you all got some good rest to get your senses clear of the smell . Kevin, I'm sure you already know, but be sure to treat the tank that the ray was in. Bacteria from the decaying body will get in the water and cause health issues for the other rays in the tank.

My system is strong enough to handle an ammonia spike like that. And yes. I should have clipped it. I wasn't thinking. Good catch. Ill do it in the future.
