I have to say, i have interests in woodturning and stuff, and nature, but without disrespect, maybe not specifically in this area, but the quality of craftsmanship in these items, the level of detail and amount of passion put in, I can't stop watching. The little pup is so beautifully natured, she reminds me of my own little beagle I used to have.

I really like these pieces are not simply painted wood carvings. You invented a wood burning 'tool' to create texture for the snake skin and squirrels hair. Such patience and skill. I saw bee land on one of your previous canes, heck I thought hrm that's an awesome bee he carved, till it moved.

I was just wondering, Do you let the wood dry out for awhile before you start carving, or do you do your carvings while the wood is still green? And does the wood shrink or expand on you any after you finish your carving? I don't know if I can do this, but I sure do want to give it a try. I do some wood working, and I have had trouble with wood movement on my work. I was just wondering if it effects your work any. If so, what do you do to try to avoid it? Well, thank you for your time.

Yes, the wood has dried for several months before I carve it. I have been thinking about trying to carve green wood to see how it will work out. Some woods warp and crack more than others. I have had pieces that were perfectly straight until I started carving them, and then they started to warp. So it's kind of unpredictable. The heartwood tends to cause the most warping. Also small knot clusters will be a warping point.

Stinnett Sticks I've built some things, like jewelry boxes, and stuff, and I'll work so hard to get them right, then I'll set them up some where, come back a few months later, and they are all warped. I like wood working but I hate dealing with wood movement. Well, thanks for the reply. Take it easy.
