It s just at the time he didn't have the right trainers, the right nutrition, the right environment, everything has changed since, the guy is trained inside UFC facilities now and obviously they made it a priority for him to work on his wrestling and cardio. Don't compare this fight to Ngannou vs Jon Jones. Stipe is much more stronger and bigger physically than Jones. Stipe was able to pick up Francis and dump him for a takedown while Jones didn't get a single takedown against Dominic Reyes. Also don't forget that Ngannou's learning curve has increased heavily since his Stipe fight.
