This is the largest and heavies of all my engines. Needs very little heat to play. Water cooled. Not the fastest engine, but I love the tick of it working.

AS big as it is, there is little torque to it.....

Hey, I am currently building one myself for a school manufacturing class, and wonder if you can help me, I am building the alpha type engine, and I am aiming for a bore of 2 inches or if not, will do 40mm, wondering what gap has to be between cylinder and piston, materials for cylinder will be mild steel, and piston will be either made with aluminum, or a nylon with aluminum sides(if I will make a low heat engine), I know I am asking a lot, but also how do you calculate the diameter and size of tube between cylinders???@@robdawkins

@@Pussinboots-ll1om ....love to help. But.... I only buy in stuff that might need some minor work. I have only hand tools and a garden bench to fix stuff. Happy to measure up and send any measurements, as long as I can leave it intact. Took me a while to time it and get connections right. This engine is aluminium for most part, base brass, water cooling pipes and stack copper; also nylon has been used for sleeve guide. Good luck....

@@robdawkins by any chance does it have to have same volume as cylinders???
