Thanks for including the finishing row!!! I already knew how to do the shell stitch, but couldn’t figure out how to square off the last row in order to do a border. Nobody on KZbin except YOU thought to include directions for finishing this type of blanket. Your instructions are perfect. So: many many thanks! ❤

Thank you for this, it is very clear. I'm new to crochet a year ago....a slow learner so have only managed so far wash/dishcloths & 2 scarves. What throws me with patterns like the shell st is remembering all the dif changes at the beginning & ending of each row. I'm going to save this in faves & work on it soon. It seems though with all those dc in one stitch that to make even a small lapghan that it would take f o r e v e r!! haha. Thanx for sharing :D

Would you ever carry the yarn up the side as it is only two colors so all the carried yarn would be covered with a border no ends to weave in
@amydavis4945
@amydavis4945 3 жыл бұрын
Linda Giacomozzi That would only work if you are working at least 2 rows of the same colors (or any even number). If you only work one row then your yarn "end" will be at the wrong end of the next row. I hope that makes sense.

I have to say I have had quite a time trying to remember when to do three double crochet at the end and when to do it at the beginning. Had to rip out many times until I got it right. I also found it very distracting when learning a pattern, dealing with color changes as well.

@CreativeGrandma

It all depends on what weight yarn and hook size you are using, follow the multiple until you get the width you want then just follow the pattern until the desired length. I hope that helps.

How many chains would you do for blanket for this stitch
@donna970
@donna970 3 жыл бұрын
Use a multiple of 6 plus 3. This means that your initial chain can be any length you want as long as the total is evenly divisible by 6 then add the plus 3.so if you wanted your blanket to be 48" wide you would chain multiples of 6 until you reach 48" but be sure the initial chain can be divisible by 6 then add 3 more chains.
@donna970
@donna970 3 жыл бұрын
I forgot to tell you not to make your initial chain too tight or you will have a hard time with your first row.
@rebeccagabbitass444
@rebeccagabbitass444 3 жыл бұрын
But how many chains
@DoctorLizAtPlay
@DoctorLizAtPlay 2 жыл бұрын
At the beginning, the instruction is multiple of 6 plus 2 - how many chains will depend on how big you want the blanket (and the weight of the yarn as well as technique influences this). I think the best way to decide is to make a sample (gauge) with a few rows, and measure it. If you know how wide you want the blanket, you can estimate from the sample.
