I personally think we as a beatbox audience need to evolve. This is something Den also brings up a lot, and its the fact that beatboxing isnt treated as music, cuz we still in a way treat it as a gimmick. "Musicality" is a gimmick for a lot of beatboxers. Yodeling, vocal sections, rap verses, all of these are used as gimmicks in most beatbox tracks, not as integrated parts of the song. I think the process is a bit backwards in composing. We have a sound, and we need to include it into the beat cuz it sounds cool. On the other hand, someone like Gene doesnt think in terms of sound, he thinks in terms of a melodic line, which he uses sounds to convey, which is probably why his music, even some your stuff, Taras' stuff, Den's tracks, actually feel like they can be produced songs and not just "beatbox tracks", cuz they are composed from the mindset of a musician, not just a beatboxer. We as an audience get impressed when someone does a vocal flip, but any regular trained singer could tell you its not an uncommon thing in singing, so it would sound bad to them if the pitching is bad. "Musicality" in general is a weird and vague category to have imo, cuz you cant have an objective opinion on what "music" is. Having a poorly executed vocal line in between 32 bars of tech and sound spam isnt exactly the compositionally or melodically intricate thing. Lol sorry for the rant, just felt like dropping this.

Can you explain more on your thoughts between frequency and pitch? Pitch is how frequency is perceived to the ear once the vibration occurs. When you say Remix has bad frequency but good pitch, are you saying he is producing a different pitch than his frequency can produce? Not sure how that is possible based on their definitions.
@Dexecute.5 күн бұрын
@@blengblong01712 yeah it's probably a 2nd language thing, because him saying Remix sounds bad because he is doing a lower sound on a vocal range scale, he is literally saying he has bad pitch at a lower range lmao. I think he means the timbre of the sound, but could be wrong.
@stitch_mus1c5 күн бұрын
@@Dexecute. When you do vocal sounds. Like inward bass, polyphonic, etc... they all have their own note to it because of the vibration produced by the sound. But certain sounds like the one I mentioned, can have more than 1 vibration underneath. Those underlying vibrations cause extra pitches that can be difficult to hear unless you train yourself to hear it or you're naturally gifted with ears to hear it
@shao60285 күн бұрын
@@stitch_mus1c that still isn't what frequency means - what you mean is the pitch of the harmonic (like how unclean throat bass creates a subharmonic that doesnt quite match the original note, causing it to sound bad). remixes pitching is off when doing that sound as you said, the lower note in the sound isn't clean so the harmony that the sound creates is off and sounds, well bad lol frequency relates to timbre, a sound is characterized to our ear by the frequencys it hits
@Dexecute.5 күн бұрын
@@stitch_mus1c Sound itself is produced from vibration, vibration is not a product of sound. This will help you in your future explanations, trust. You are talking about overtones I believe, so you have the right idea that multiple frequencies can be produced by a vocal riff, but typically overtones are just natural harmonics that are associated with the root note produced. I'm not sure how poor overtones are produced naturally, so I believe you are just saying he has bad pitch in his overtones. But the root note is correct. If my opinion helps, I don't think Remix's pitch is good in that section at all, he's definitely flat

So how do you change frequency without changing the pitch? I thought they were correlated to eachother. So if he’s hitting the right pitches, how does he find the right frequency to match the pitches without changing it? I’m not an expert with this stuff at all I’m just trying to learn. I’m aware that one pitch can have multiple frequencies when it comes to an instrument, but how practical is it to find the “correct” frequency when it comes to the human voice?
@stitch_mus1c5 күн бұрын
it takes practice. like i said in the live, u basically use a DAW like Ableton, to find frequency areas that i cant hear. and then i just keep listening to it till im able to hear it

Dropicql is amazing but he is really strong at wildcards and openers but I see him slow a bit in responses and situations where he has less prep time.
