A funny coincidence - at the exact moment you were talking about making the Poet by Sari Nordlund I was printing that exact pattern from the Laine magazine. It's been a project I've been meaning to knit for a long time. Thank goodness I looked the pattern up on Ravelry because there are a few erratas. Looking forward to when you start this project.

Last year, I began knitting for the holidays in January. It was better than the year before….but, I came to the same conclusion as you did. I knit a LOT for others but not for myself. So, this is my year of change. I have finished the Dustland Shawl by Stephen West; a Monday Hat by Jodi Brown with a second almost finished; a pair of fingerless mitts. I am taking a ‘me’ break to knit a pair of mittens for my grandson who lives in Nashville, TN. They had snow, quite unusual, and temps that were colder than me outside of Philadelphia. Then, it’s back to the ‘me’ knits. Thank you so much for continuing to podcast and producing such quality in both knitting and sewing. It is so appreciated. ❤

Hello Maria, what a nice plans for 2024! There are a lot of patterns I love, so maybe I should make a list to. I tend to knit for my baby granddaughter and for my husband, but I am going to try to sqeeuze some knitwear for myself. When I wear a sweater with a cowl (is this te right word for in?) I fold it to the inside of my sweater. It makes a nice look and it don’t feel pressed against your neck. I read it somewhere that this is the way this cowls are meant to be weared. Maybe it helps by the little bulk in the top of your sweater? Thank you for your nice, tranquil and inspraring video’s. Marian

Hi Marian, Thanks so much for your nice comments. Yes that could be an idea of how to wear it! I've seen a few sweaters worn that way but never actually tried it myself. Thanks so much for watching :)

maria crikey 174 projects? with babies? you are wonder woman! i mean...even 110?...just wow. of course you want to finish things nicely - no shame in that no ma'am. re:porcelain - sooo happy to see that you are using those browns as a contrast color, getting tired of the blue contrast, meh. the brown will look fab on you. i have my mother's porcelain in a green and gold cloisonne pattern, and would love to recreate that, may. and love your 2024 box o' yarn, what a clever idea. and natch, i'll be waiting with anticipation to see all your knitting makes. but sewing too, yes? and that photo of your daughter in her BOS sweater is just the best, the sweetness. lots of snow these past days in the rockies and wasatch - even our la sals have been getting snow, just an inch here. most of the country has been in an arctic freeze, but we've managed to avoid it here in moab - kinda nice. was 45F here yesterday - a friend from bozeman call to say it was -17 there. brrr. hope you all are staying warm! cheers - libby

Hi Libby, Thanks so much for your kind words :) I am very excited about my box o' yarn and yes, there will be sewing too. At the moment my knitting mojo and energy far outweighs my sewing desires but I know that will shift with the seasons. I tend to slow down with sewing in the early months of the year and then pick it up again as the days get longer and warmer. I don't know that I will have the same box o fabric for sewing plans also because pregnancy and postpartum are not always the most inspiring times for me to sew for myself! We'll see. It has been cold here as usual. Crazy to see so many parts of the US getting snow that don't usually! Happy knitting :)

Maria, These last few days I have been thinking a lot about this year and the items I wish to knit and sew. I want to be more intentional about the pieces. I also want to be more "selfish" and make more for myself. You are so incredibly organized! What an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your goals and wishes for this year. This has already helped me so much with my own goals. Happy stitching! Jillian

Hi Jillian, I'm so happy to hear that you found this video helpful for your own goals. Somehow it is weird to think that it requires being so intentional to knit for yourself, but it really does! It sounds like you have an enjoyable year of "selfish" makes ahead of you :)

Loads of great inspiration here!! I have been thinking of a Spring/Early Summer capsule wardrobe just to make fewer but better coordinating pieces.

Hi Maria, Your organization is superb! And such a great way to not get caught up in the frenzy of the next new thing on Ravelry. I love what you’ve picked - so many classics. I’ve never tried it, but I’ve heard that putting the mohair in the freezer for a bit will make it easier to separate.

Oh thank you! I might have to give that a try... I'm not promising I won't get caught up in the newest thing on Ravelry but it is worth a try ;)

Maria - I always enjoy your videos so thank you! The sweater you are wearing looks great. I’m currently knitting the Stockholm Slipover V-neck by Petite Knit. A few of my knitting resolutions are to be intentional with the yarn I buy going forward & not to hoard yarns that I know I’ll never use. I had my colors done in 2023 and was told I’m a Twilight Autumn which makes sense because I’ve always naturally gravitated to the olives, rusts, mustards, soft roses & darker mauves, etc. I want to focus on knitting only the things that will add to my wardrobe. The vest I’m knitting now is perfect because I don’t currently have one in my wardrobe.

Oh! The Stockholm slipover v-neck is also one I've looked at. I have really found the vest to be something I grab way more than I expected so I hope you enjoy yours as well. Hoarding yarns is also something I do... don't we all? Hopefully being more intentional with purchases as well as letting go of yarns that we know will never use will help! I would also be curious to know what "my colors" are. In some ways that could help narrow down the colors you buy in yarn and clothing but I guess it is also always good to just use what you like! Thanks for watching
