Volume is great again today! Whatever you "fixed" yesterday has worked for youtube viewers. So much better.

I have learned to match threads from you. I was quilting a friends Christmas quilt…white on top, red on bottom…and after two inches of quilting I stopped and had her pick a different backing. She got a white minky and it worked out so much better!

I agree. I try to match top & bottom threads closely in color. One less thing to worry about!

I love how you choose colors for a quilt. I don’t have a great selection yet but I have made some poor choices. Most of my quilts are charity quilts and you have taught me sooooooo much and I am getting so much better thanks to you

Thank you for all you do I always learn something when I watch your programs

Can you show a video on what you do when you 1st get a quilt. Like what's your prep work for getting the backing and the top squared up or are your quilts all squared before a client brings them to you. Also, do you add the binding to your quilts? I love watching your videos and I have learned a lot from them. They keep me trying.

I had a dark blue border which was not planned but that was the college graduate's favorite color and I did change dark Navy color just for the border because I thought the blue was too much on the Block

That makes good sense. It all has to be thought through for the exact quilt in the situation, doesn’t it?

Would double batting help with threads showing through if using different colored threads?

Good Morning! had an appt. this morning, sorry I missed the live. Should you always use a less wt. thread in the bobbin, or what would be the problem with using same wt?
@kthybrown0078 ай бұрын
great point! I have used a 40 wt. Glide or other on top and the 60 wt "Bottom Line" in the bobbin and loved the combo, but when I went to use "Microquilter" (100 wt) on top, I could not get my tension to balance with bottom line in the bobbin without all sorts of knots and breaks despite multiple, multiple adjustments, until I put the microquilter in both top and bottom, and *poof* ... all happy. Now my overall favorite, and the colors melt into the colors of the quilt top and back. I think overall, lots of people use either the same weight top and bottom, or a lighter weight in the bobbin, but as long as you balance, it should not matter. Also, you can use some decorative threads in the bobbin that you can't get away with using on top. Happy quilting.

Same weight is absolutely fine. I just like the finer because the bobbin holds more❤️

Interesting experience! I’ve struggled with 100 wt breaking, I thought just because it’s so very fine. Now I have to go and try it too AND bottom😁

What weight do you use?
@StitchedBySusanАй бұрын
Most often, a 40 weight, but it varies sometimes.

QQ...I am catching the rerun. Do you use quilting thread or do you ever use embroidery thread?
@StitchedBySusan8 ай бұрын
The thread I use is in fact commercial embroidery thread.
