I struggle with replacing the blades. I take my cutter apart, placing each piece in order on my table exactly how I take the blade apart. I seem to have blade replacement success. Your demo is EXCELLENT and you actually explain WHY it has to go back together in a particular order. Personally, your explanation makes a big difference to my Old Brain! Any suggestions on how to separate the blades out of the packaging without cutting yourself? The oil sort of holds the blades together like glue. Thank you!

RA: Thank you, thank you for a great vid. 👍 I have been waiting YEARS for a man's complete point-of-view and tech info on "everything u need to know" about rotary cutters. I get so confused with the wave washer, the which way up on the nut, etc when changing out blades. Speaking for us short term memory people.....Looking forward to a booklet or leaflet with all that u have taught and noted in this info-instructional video. Be well in the Lord❤ . gr-granny NM p/s Too bad there is not "buy back" from blade companies for old, dull, nicked blades with fabric stores being the return/recycle centers and in return the customer gets a discount/coupon for a (future) blade purchase.

Thanks for teaching this topic. I have never been taught about the different size blades. I once threw away a cutter because I couldn't figure out how to put it back together after I changed the blade. Now I think it was because I had the washer in wrong.

Great tutorial. To dispose of my used blades is use an empty medication bottle (from the pharmacy) that has a twist top that locks. If the bottle happens to tip over the contents will not spill out. I also use this same method for my sew machine needles.

Thank you for answering my unasked questions! Glad you pointed out that it's better to get fresh new blade rather than sharpener! :) I am religious about changing to new blade frequently even tho it could get expensive for 2 reasons. First, well worth it for accurate cuts and Second, I did the ultimate and sliced the side of my opposite hands' finger after 30 years of experience! It immediately happened after I changed to new blade- so thankful it was fast, clean cut!!! Keep up great videos!

I remember the time I replaced a blade and put two on. It took me taking the rotary cutter apart twice to figure out I put more than one blade on by accident. Never again. I have an 18mm Clover rotary cutter that when I tighten the back bolt all the way it won’t turn, but even slightly loose the bolt starts to unscrew. Any thoughts on how to fix this? (I typically use an OLFA brand one that doesn’t have this problem, but once in a while I end up having this packed into an EPP bag and don’t have a different cutter with me.)

Good informative, but another thing to know, is when you buy blades in multiple packs, make sure you get only one blade, more then once I have put in more then one, yes it does drive me crazy, just noticed you were saying this as I was typed

Very difficult to see what you were showing against that black background/cover on table. Also you flipped cutters over back and forth so many times impossible to tell which side you were actually working on. I say all this because I really wanted to learn the valuable info you were attempting to teach us. Of course it might be better if I watched on my pc screen and not the screen on my phone. 2nd time watching and still not sure where the wave bolt goes. I thank you for info on what symptoms mean when cutting. Also glad to know I will waste my money on a blade sharpner.
