I like how extreme cross country really shows what's going on in a project. The book project will be so cute! I saw Kim's video earlier today. Ages ago I did Autumn Queen ( Mirablia ) on 32ct. waterlily Jobelan. It's such a great colour! With a remnant of that fabric I am stitching a small project that is actually a water lily. The pinks and greens of the DMC floss are great on the fabric.

You evil girl. I just ordered the owl Sal kit. I love their stuff. The gift boxes were sold out but I was able to get the needle minder and floss drops separate. I loved finishing their Halloween one. I have so many!!

Hi Sarah I love your WIP's. I do have a few lavender and lace patterns and have been thinking for the coming of the new year starting one. I have never done a lavender and lace pattern and I am challenging myself to doing one. I still have been working on my 3 months to a finish and hope to see progress before the end of December. Your comment about the weather being unpredictable made me giggle as you read off temperatures that seem very stable to me! Meanwhile in Ohio, we're predicted to have a high of 22° on Friday and 54° on Saturday! 😮 I've only done one temperature stitch so far, in 2022, and there was a week that December that we went from highs in the teens, to highs in the 70s. Needless to say, my stitching was VERY colorful for that year!! I love the December Cats and Hearts - I think it might be my favorite one! Looking forward to your progress on it. And I think you should replace Santa with a wreath.

I have decided not to attend the Jingle Ball yet again this year - this first weekend in December is always just SO busy with various Christmas family and church things that it doesn't make sense to try to squeeze in an online retreat. When I will finally have a few moments to myself, I don't think I'll want to expend more energy being social. It seems with the way things happen around here that this first week in December is my busiest week of December, so it kind of is opposite what Stephanie intended by scheduling the ball "before things get busy with Christmas stuff". But, that's okay - maybe I can swing her smaller mid-year one this year if she does that again. I think we might have been busy during the one she did this year, so we'll see if it lines up better with some downtime next year. :)

I am a new stitcher and I would love to join a stitch along. Where would I find info on ones that are starting?

I don't know that there's any one central spot for stitch a longs, but you can just keep your ears open for them as you engage with others on social media. A lot of what I refer to as a stitch a long is really a "start a long" with friends. We have a similar chart and decide to start it on the same day. We rarely will keep up the same rate of stitching the design. Some people will casually host a larger stitch a long with a particular chart or type of chart, and invite others to join them. The Randal Spangler Bookshelf stitch a long I joined this past week was like that - Kim Hollenbeck was interested in doing something with the long, skinny bookshelf designs and invited people to join her. There are also some more formal stitch a longs where the organizer will break a chart into sections and encourage participants to stitch a section each month or something in order to finish the piece in a year - like the group that starts together at Stitch West every year and picks a new project to try to finish before the retreat comes around again the following year. Some companies will put out mystery stitch a long designs, where you receive a portion of the chart every few weeks. You can try following these companies on their socials or signing up for their newsletter if you want to learn about them. Historical Sampler Company and The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery are two companies that I have participated in like that before. A full coverage company that has one each year is The Cross Stitch Studio. A lot of mystery stitch a longs will begin around the first of the year, so you could be listening for other content creators to mention some of them that they've heard of - I not familiar with all of the different ones out there, but I know there are more. I hope that helps! And I hope you are enjoying jumping into this new craft. There is something for everyone out there, so I hope you find patterns, materials and techniques you enjoy!
