Hi Anne K here in Christchurch New Zealand. Thanks for the info about the thimbles - I've just ordered some on Amazon. I'm originally from London, but moved to NZ 50 yrs ago, when I married my kiwi husband, who was working as a teacher in UK for a couple of years. Its so good to have such an enriching link to UK via your crafting videos.

I have one word for you.....AMAZING!!!!!! WOW, absolutely beautiful. The liberty quilt is my favorite, just amazing. The amount of work you put into both of those quilts, well done you. And I too prefer to cut my binding strips 3" and thanks for the tip of not folding it beforehand, that was great. I'll give that a try. PS, your hexy quilt looks great as well. Thanks for all you do ❤

I’ve been thinking, perhaps the reason I haven’t been doing quilting for a long time might have something to do with the prints and colors available in the local of where I live, (New York State) PLUS, I’m not one to purchase material on line due to I prefer to feel the material to get an idea of the quality UNLESS I’ve already purchased from a specific site. The sites you’ve mentioned I will get a message off to them to see if I could purchase from some of your listed sources. The colors are so lovely! Your site is so informational and relaxing! I have an older model Husqvarna Designer SE. It still works great. I take good care of it (it was expensive upon purchase) I found a GREAT dealer / repair shop so that make owning a machine like this very good. Well of course you should go purchase more material…ha ha. You are such a pro. Thank you

Good job!! FYI...double folded bias binding is inherently stronger than single fold for longevity and washing of a quilt Looking at finished vintage quilts will reveal that. Also remember that polyester thread is very rough on cotton fabric A dear friend of mine who was a quilting teacher taught us that. Again great video. And, happy quilting Jan from Jacksonville Florida

Beautiful quilts Rachel. I'm new to quilting (4 months) but not new to machine and hand sewing. I finish off by hand sewing the binding after attaching it by machine first. I find this the most relaxing part of making the quilts 💞

Your quilts are lovely Rachel. I never used to finish a project and still don't finish all of the ones I start. I must admit during lockdown I finished completing the quilts I started. Rachel, both quilts are amazing! The Alice Caroline one is especially superb with the various patterns and the beautiful Liberty fabric. I appreciate your relaxed approach to points and marking. Quilting should be fun ! Thank you for the idea ti make a wider binding by waiting to trim the edges and for the Amazon link to the thimbles. I have arthritic bumpy knuckles and need a mire flexible thimble.

Beautiful Quilts. The wavy line is my "go to" all over quilting stitch, I don't handquilt with a hoop either and I love a scrappy binding ( although I don't do it as much as I should!) But I do double fold my bindings and I trim my quilts. I've just finished hand quilting a marathon effort! Three months of about 3-4 hrs a day. It is all different blocks that needed individual quilting, my next one will definitely be cross hatched 😂😂 gota love binding clips no pin pricks!

That liberty quilt looks amazing, the drape on it makes it look like it will be a nice proper snuggly quilt 😊 For some reason I can sit and hand sew EPP hexies together for hours, but I hate hand quilting and hand sewing binding (I usually attach mine to the back first and then machine topstitch it over to the front) I actually use that Gutermann hand quilting thread to piece my epp hexies together, it is the only one I have found that doesn't want to tangle itself up in knots (glaring at you aurifill 😂)
