STL Tones asked me to demo their new 'ToneHub' guitar plugin. Not only will I demo the plugin, but I'll give you a full overview of it, show you how it works, and share what it has to offer.

Hey! My name is Darryl Syms, and uh, well, I play guitar! I mean, I do a bunch of other cool things too - hopefully you can get to know me a little bit more through some of my videos.

Fun Fact- in the top left corner you can enable mono to stereo which gives you a much wider sound stage for your verbs and delays and such. Great overview though!

hey, great video, I like that it's not a djent/metal mix but a human playing guitar :) The unlocked nut: aren't the strings move too much on the nut (up and down?) I tried this, removed the string retainer and the strings are moving a lot.

HAVING NO SUCCESS USING THIS WITH reaper??? any suggestions. It open and the track is lit to record but no effect to guitar on any setting.

do you need to have stl tone hub installed to use the stl artist signature plug ins? I downloaded andy james plug in for my mac. I'm trying to open it in logic pro x and its not recognizing the plug in. I downloaded ilok and registered the andy james plug in on iit. Ilok says that the plug in is on my mac, but I can't use it. Could I get some help with this anyone?

Yes. You won't get anywhere with an artist preset alone.

I wish you'd begun with the basic setup. I.e. the DAW this plugin sits in. Any other plugins on the track and what kind of audio output/Amps you're using for this demo. Thanks for the informative video 👍

That’s a whole other topic. BIAS FX runs as a standalone program, so a DAW isn’t really relevant to this video anyway 🙂

Thanks for the quick answer Darryl. I didn't know you could run the plugin as standalone. I was just after the fact of whether I am hearing the raw sound of the unit, without extra effects, so I am able to evaluate it for myself. 👍

How do you use this and switch between presets in a live setting?

not sure I wanna pay £200 for this really, £50 and i would go for it, as the add ons are all £50 it works out quite expensive unless you stick with the basic.

Probably a stupid question - How do you hook this up from your computer to your guitar amplifier?

You don’t, it’s a plug-in. It comes out of your computer just as if you were going to connect some headphones or speakers to listen to some music 👍

I can't seem to use any guitar plugins in Ableton live without having a bit of latency.

@@DarrylSyms idk... 16g RAM AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-core Its like, the latency is minimum enough to where you can shit around and jam a little.. But its noticeable to where I wouldn't record with it. ... I do plug into a cheap Behringer UMC22 interface, but I doubt that's the issue

Maybe it is the interface? You might be surprised. Latency shouldn’t be a problem if you have good tech - I’ve never had problems with latency and the proof is in all my vids (unless you’re an audiophile and notice 4ms of delay 😝)

Thanks for the non-djent stuff. Tired of it. Just downloaded the demo. I like it very much. I don't know why people don't like it. It has the depth that no other sim gave me before. It's more dynamic. I tried and own few from bias to Nolly. I think those more djent oriented would like Neural stuff but for me this one stands out. But I'm scare of becoming addicted to buying extras. Will try few more days and most likely buy it.

How do I reduce latency? Through my line 6 pod or focusrite scarlett solo I get latency.

Change the audio settings or signal chain? Play with the buffer and sample rate, as well as be sure your signal chain is efficient

I bought it and it is so weak compared to the neural dsp stuff, they said they worked for 2 years on this. Sad , I really like the concept

I have an AXE FX Ultra, have tried all of the Neural DSP plugins (among others) and I just couldn't get a massive crunchy/clear highgain tone until I tried this. But tone is subjective of course, the Neural DSP stuff still sounds pretty good.
