I was fortunate to meet Yasser and speak with him while at the US Open in Reno/Vegas? back in 1987 or 1988.....he had a playoff game against Lev Alburt for the Championship as I recall. back then I was not even a good patzer...but he spoke with me with dignity and respect. I've never forgotten that. His book "No Regrets" on the 2nd Spassky Fischer match is very good indeed!!

At the pivotal point in the game after the queen sacrifice, black plays 16...Qc5. I wanted an explanation but Yasser said 'only move'. A bit skeptical I checked the engine and it's the engine's 3rd move. I wish he explained black's options there because I'm mystified.

Tal is great and I admire the way he takes chances his opponent won't see how to get out. In the second game, he gave up draw to a clear loss if the right move was found. But wasn't as we saw. But again if 34: Qc3+ this would have done the trick, maybe even winning for white depending on the response. Razor sharp chess.

I learn a lot from Yasser lectures. Not only he explain positional idea in the most comprehensible way but he is a great tactician too. He found 25...Qg5 in spot. Lucky his students can ask him their questions! And about Larsen-Tal game: these guys of course were very creative. Tal was really good at materially unbalanced position. Just look at this game. He gambled and won! but no wonder Robert Fischer beat them all. As Tal himself mentioned Bobby was the first real grandmaster! I think because he is the most precise chess player before computer age. When we check their games with modern engines we can see how rare Bobby blundered . he was ATOMIC MORPHY!

I've found errors by Fischer. So has Kasparov. He was good for a few years then stopped playing. It is not certain he would have beaten the young Tal or healthy Tal or even the young Botvinnik. And no one knows how he would go against Karpov as he stopped playing. Larsen Taimanov and others kept playing. Karpov played many great games after 1975. Sure he was a classicist which is why he admired Capablanca but he made errors, plenty of them...

Yeah, 16...Qc5? was a mistake running to a fork on move19. Better for white was 16.Be6! Qd6 (only move) 17.Rd6 Kd6 18.Bf4 Ne5 19.Be5 Ke5 20.Re1 Kd6 21.Na8 fg 22.Bh3 Ra8 23.Bg2 +/- and also black should have played 25...fg with good drawing chance

Instead of Q to c5 as in the game (11:40 on the video) which allows the fork of the black king and queen what about Q-a5 which avoids the fork? I can't see how then RxB ch wins. Maybe NxB instead but then black has N-e5 and what then? After B-d2 attacking the queen, NxB, BxQ,NxB,N-c7 check, move the king, NxR, RxN and white is a pawn ahead,

Just because Black didn't play the best defense doesn't mean that White (Tal) was good, or that his sacrifices were sound. Matter of fact, they weren't, and there were many points where Black could have achieved equality, but again, didn't play the best defensive moves. Tal really wasn't that great.
