"If you notice, your opponent lives in Southern California. That means the most opportune move would be bishop to B5. If he had lived in Southern Kentucky, we would be looking at bishop to g2, essentially fianchetto'ing our bishop on the longest white diagonal."

I enjoyed this immensely. This is my first exposure to GM Seirawan, and I found him very engaging. He makes learning fun at the same time he is sharing his priceless insights. Just a great hour spent with a great player and equally good teacher.

God I love the way Yasser teaches. there is no race to see how many lines you can calculate and come up with. slow, relaxed pace. repeated themes. interactive. I can actually take out my notebook and jot down a couple points without having to pause, go back and relisten. I love it.

I enjoy that he's smart enough to convey that chess can be a gambler or a safe role, many people express this differently like chaos vs order, or like ben finegold says if you dont want stale mate games you take uncalculated risks. unknown unknown is your known unknown.

Very nice presentation Thank you. As you mention Rudolf Spielmann was a very interesting player. He played h4, h5 and h6 a hundred years ago. The idea was not found bu AlphaZero. Steinitz played h4, h5 and h6 against Zukertort as soon as 1886.

Yes yasser!...this guy teach me CONCEPT of opening in the other channel at a place called st louis..hehe... 1. Control the center 2. Piece development 3. King safety... My rating simply shoot up from 1500 to 1800....wow.. Now i need middlegame classes to such as this to become 2000...yes...i need that attacking 'nose'

Yasser is still in the top 10 percent of all GM's. One in many millions of great minds! I can't imagine being able to point out all of the mistakes that some of the top GMS are making

1:04:22 so the black queen on b1 is a mistake right? Otherwise bishop g5 is checkmate for black after queen e1 no?

36:13 I would take the knight and after Rc1 would take it also, with tempo. Bishop back so to c1. And now i would take the white bishop. But e7 and the knight on f3 looks also scary enough, so i have to give up material for the pawn. Eventually better is to take te pawn with the unemployed bishop and if white takes back with the rook, then take the bishop.... 1. Bg5 - Qc3 2. Rc1 - Qc1 3. Bc1 - dc OR 3. Bc1 - Be6 4. Re6 - dc
