I think this is one of his best lectures. Really good explanation of background ideas, and taking a ragged-looking position and turning into a winner. Impressive.

29:20 can white play Rb3 to consolidate instead of the risky looking Qe8? If Bd5 Bc3, then either Qg3 to consolidate further or still Qe8 if allowed.

At 6:48, he forgets to mention that Nd2 Bg5 leads to a really unpleasant bind for white

Hakobyan (Armenian: Հակոբյան) is an Armenian surname with the meaning "son of Hakob" (Armenian for Jacob). This surname has multitudes of transliterations into Latin alphabet, including Acopian, Acopyan, Agopian, Agopyan, Akobian, Akobyan, Akopyan, ...

What if instead the opponent will not create 2 connected passed pawns and captures with the King instead?

13:20, d5 seems like a good move, forces him to move the knight back to d8, which prevents the rooks from getting on the open lines. after d5 i think exd5 would been very bad, because then white plays exd5, attacking the knight and at the same time attacking the unguarded bisshop on D7. Am i missing something here?

With queen there u lose a pawn if u play d5! U have 1 defender they have 2

Does anyone know if this class is considered beginner or intermediate? It's right at my level. The concepts are good, but the kids aren't super fast, giving me time to think with them and come up with the right ideas.

For anyone who wants to read: Look at the position at 41:20 but with the Bishop on c5 instead of d8. It's white to move. Is it a draw? The answer is no. White has the plan: Ke5-d5-c6-d7 followed by pawn to e7+ and wins. Once the pawns are on the 6th rank white is winning. Note that this idea doesn't work if the pawns are on say, the 4th rank, because the f-pawn is then hanging.

On 2nd last move black plays bxg2+, kg1 couldn't black have played rg7 threatening discovered check. If white plays Qxh5+ then Qh6. What options odes White have?

After 1.Qxh5+, black must defend with 1..Qh6, 2.Qxh6, 2..Kxh6, and white has a nice fork with 3.Nf5+, winning the rook. 3..Kg6, 4.Nxg7, (if 4..Kxg7, 5.Kxg2 and white is up a clean rook and bishop) Black now plays something like 4..Bc6 and white is just join to dominate, up a rook and knight (with a passed pawn as well). Hope this helps!

How can I begin as strong as this man. I have been watching their lectures for a long time and still cannot reach 1900 on Chess.com comfortably. In some respects it's as if I soaked up the knowledge but lack the stamina to execute it efficiently. In Chess you have to find the best 40 moves, and I get tired after finding one or two. Then everything else is superficial.

27.05 Why not put the white bishop on C3? The black queen's only escape square is H6. And that positioning is perfect for white. Right?

ok.... the answer is Castle Queen Side! 1st if he can manage to get that battery, you can get to do as well wit queen c2 and bishop d3 and you can even sacrifice the "h" pawn! Try to attack with your pawns faster than your oponent coz many times with opposites castles it gets to a race that what comes first wins
