Stock 1988 Supra Turbo automatic 7mgte 0-90 acceleration

Just playing around in the daily, a 1988 bone stock automatic 7mgte Toyota Supra Turbo.

Im gonna buy one at the end of the month. Idc if it’s auto cause I like auto and manual. My question is : Are the gears well floors ? Like I’m not gonna be a 5k rpm at 130kph ? Thx

This is the first 100% stock supra ive had in 20 yrs, and after driving a stock one, i totally get it, the ride is awesome, its quiet, fairly quick even for todays standards, and for how narrow the stock tires are and how much body roll there is, it handles surprisingly well.

I have many mk3's, with various engines/setups, some high HP, some are great cruisers, but the stock Turbo Auto car is becoming one of my favorite to just drive.

@@TheMk3SupraGuy Awesome :) I'll get one as soon as I can. The Automatic gears used to be looked down on (especially here in Europe) but not everyone is a pilot and it's actually easier for gear change obviously, or when driving through town more comfortable.

Hi. How many bhp and torque is this? Any issues so far?

A stock A70 Supra makes 232 bhp. I forgot how much torque it makes and any issues it has

I had a 3.0 mk3 turbo exactly like this ,there's no way this is stock mine had 3 inch exhaust all way through ,auto and going by the speedo with a good run would get to 100kph in 7.5 ish which probably is good for a auto and got to 90mph in about 15 seconds

Stock airbox, stock turbo, stock OE Exhaust from turbo to chrome tips. The autos were just as fast as the 5spd's, and would actually run a bit faster through the quarter because it held boost through the gears. it should run mid 6's 0-60 and run a mid to low 15 @ 89mph.

Transmission control unit is programmed that way. Likely for emissions or something stupid like that. Also turbo cars have a pretty sudden drop off in power at high rpm close to redline, at least older stock cars anyways, maybe thats why its programmed like this.

The 7m doesnt like to rev, it makes all its power mid range and falls off fast after 6k, especially with the stock turbo

The turbo put in he 7m really chokes it out on the high end. Plus the 7m is also a long stroke engine made for torque so it doesnt need to rev high. Thats why toyota went for a turbo for the low end torque where the majority of people would be at.

Bone stock, but a fresh rebuild. no performance parts or anything, just new toyota gaskets, etc.
