Stock 4Runner crossing Ghost River

Thank you for posting this! I just bought a 2021 4Runner and I'm leary about doing too much with the truck. I don't want to ruin it. You gave me some confidence!

I was abit anxious myself. But researching the trails you plan to go on helps (Or even following another group on the same trail if you bump into one) to boost confidence. Was considering installing a diff breather at minimum for this, but the crossing was shallow enough from what I've seen.

@@Xerkaw yeah. That’s about as deep as I would go without a diff breather. I have a ‘21 TRD ORP as well in MGM.

A 4Runner has greater ground clearance than a car so it can traverse rocky terrain and shallow water with no damage. The 4Runner is a truck with a steel frame and steel plates underneath protecting some of the expensive mechanical bits from being damaged by hidden rocks. These mechanical bits are also better sealed for better protection from water. The 4Runner is built to handle some off-road driving. Family cars are built for the street and will be easily damaged and disabled in many off-road conditions.

@@Goodnightandgoodluck-c7m The video does not indicate it is a big deal. It is just showing a 4Runner crossing a small river. Something that many truck based SUV’s can do. That is it. The owner is likely enjoying the capability of his truck being able to do this and posted a video of it. Many videos on KZbin are not about a “big deal”, but about something the owner likes or is interested in doing and sharing it with others. I decide to elaborate initially, as one of the comments suggested that a car could easily do this and while some cars could, without the proper ground clearance there would likely be water seepage and other impacts for a car as noted in my previous comment.
