The scariest part is that car only makes 490 hp (495 with performance exhaust option) and 470 torque. There ain’t no telling how fast it’s gonna be when the ZR1 version comes out with 755 hp and 715 torque.

You're damn right bout that. It's a game-changer for Chevrolet the likes of Ferrari or Lamborghini provide a mid engine super car for $200,000+(++) yeah they use expensive high quality materials in the interior and have advanced engineering but I hear Chevy has slowly been getting nicer interiors too, and the C8 is well engineered. 😏 lol

Freddie actually Lamborghini interiors aren’t that great. They use a few good quality materials here and there but according to a few they also have plastic and carbon composite (which is 95% plastic and 5% carbon fiber mixed together) on a lot of spots in the car. And the bodies are made of nothing but fiberglass (which by itself fiberglass isn’t that great.) Ferrari’s have nice interiors but their bodies are made of bare aluminum.

495 HP Corvette hooks up! Chevrolet should immediately add a high definition photo of the time sheet along with a bit of the video, etc. to its archives. Porsche adds each victory to its history of victories and quite frankly this original CSP pair of runs with official timing is certainly a win and a part of Corvette history. First official run with purpose built tires. A perfect run on street tires might also get the C8 into the 10's. That 125mph run appears to be a first and should be enshrined at the Corvette Museum. Congratulations on the firsts at an officially electronically timed event and the win!!

To think the gt500 is only .3 to .4 secs quicker with an extra 265 hp and an extra 155 lb ft of torque. Imagine a set of cf wheels with drag radials to reduce the the rotational mass. The c8 will be a beast with those alone.

@@02autogt I don't know why people keep comparing times of the C8 to cars that didn't run a lot faster but have a lot more power when those cars aren't on any type of decent tire. People that race these types of cars with that much power are going to be driving around on DRs and not just plain street tires. When my C6 was bone stock being a 6 speed Z51 I could not get any traction out of the whole and could only get a 13.1 in the 1/4. Then I put some ET street SS tires on it which aren't really all that great and I ran 12.2 which is a huge improvement and with even better tires and going to a track closer or below sea level I may have been able to get an 11.9. Once both cars have traction then you really can tell the difference between two cars.

Holden fan here. Well, with the demise of GM in Australia, we no longer produce our world renowned Commodore's (Chevy SS)... I'm a bit bummed by that! I was never a fan of the Corvette from the introduction of the C3. The C1 was the best then the C2, but everything after those two models seemed, to me, ugly! Then comes the C8! ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE! Because of my disinterest in Corvette I never knew about the mid engine development until 2 months ago. I'm hooked on everything C8! And they're gonna be produced in right hand drive and shipped down here! I AM HYPED!!! I'm 50, disabled, on a pension and I'll probably never get to drive one (unless I win the lottery), but I will still be able to see one on our streets! While I'm here, there's a guy in your area (maybe... I've seen him at that strip) with the KZbin handle of REDSS who frequents Holden (Chevy SS) meets such as Cars and Coffee etc.

only 495hp! I remember a few years ago that time was only achieved with AWD supercars or cars with almost 600hp. now a sports car with drag radials can do that. impressive

Not true. Cars that make 500hp or close to that have run 10s years ago. Also the DA in Maryland is ridiculous. The stock C6Z record of 10.7 was also set out there.

@@corvetteZ3r That's just because the C8 is mid engine so it can pull 1.6s on stock tires due to great traction. If you put DRs on it it's not going to go really any faster at that power level. The C6z has definitely gone 11.0 on stock tires, possibly someone has gone 10.9.

@@davidray4128 : It's not a liar list. The only way you get your car on that list on the CF is by showing proof of your time slip. Besides, out of the 23 stock C7 Z06s listed 10 of them are in the 10.8+ to 10.9+ range & another 7 are in the 11+ sec. range. That only leaves 6 that ran faster than 10.8 with only two cars which were 10.4+. Like I said, it's not common but possible for them to do so.
