Great video! I’m learning how to set mine up, and I’m grateful for the tips. I appreciate the update at the end as well!

Awesome! Glad to hear you might've picked up a tip or two. We really love ours, and it's been super easy to care for overall. I bought a little handheld pool vac from Intex off Amazon as well. That's been necessary for regular pool cleaning once or twice a week to keep it all clean. Hope you have fun getting yours up and running!

Great job, to limit corrosion you can use a spray in bed liner.

Good tip. If we start from scratch with a new tank in another year or so I think we'll definitely do that. Any particular product you used that you like?

@@PatrickOConnorrealestate I’ve seen a lot of people use Raptor Liner and they say it works really well. I’ve used it on a number of products on our farm and it’s very durable. I’m going to take on a stock pool project later this summer and I plan on using it. Thanks for the information on the salt system as well! We’ve been searching for a chlorine alternative.

Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. I have most of the parts, but not "adapters." Can you tell me what you used the "adapters" for? (3:24)

How is the metal holding up with the salt? Thinking about going with epoxy or something to line it. I got the 8’ oval tank and honestly not easy to find just a liner for it.

Yeah my only complaint is the corrosion near the top. Someone in this thread mentioned a spray on liner like they use for pick up truck beds, Rhino-liner or something similar?. And other people have a method for prepping the surface, then painting the whole thing. Definitely want some type of coating for a longer life span though. It only occurs at the very top where the water and air interact, so you could just put some type of coating or adhesive lining around the top 6” or so and be good 👍

Can you link the saltwater system you purchased? Great video!

Yeah we bought it off Amazon,. www.amazon.com/Intex-Saltwater-Electrocatalytic-Oxidation-15000-Gallon/dp/B073S4XG46/ref=sr_1_3?crid=IDON5U5V9ZLT&keywords=intex%2Bsalt%2Bwater%2Bchlorinator&qid=1682458564&sprefix=intex%2Bsalt%2B%2Caps%2C139&sr=8-3&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.18630bbb-fcbb-42f8-9767-857e17e03685&th=1

I had the low salt alert even if the system was brand new. Tried oaking them in vinegar for an hours, didn't work. I will go and buy a testing strip to see if my ppm is good. Also, i believe you meant to say 3000ppm was the perfect concentration. not 300.

Thanks! Yeah I think some of the intex systems may be faulty. Maybe try to return under warranty? Yes, you might be right if I stated that PPM wrong, I wrote it down in my booklet somewhere. Thanks for the catch!

Hey Philip! It's been great overall. The filter equipment is still holding up and the salt system is nice. My only complaint is the metal corrosion around the rim of the tank I showed at the end of the video. I'll need to think of a solution to cover that. I know they make some kind of like epoxy paint that can be applied or even vinyl roof seam tape. Just so it doesn't let rust chips flake into the water. The Wife and Baby love floating around in it though! Fun project!

How did you run the electric? My pool is out in the yard so we were gonna run an extension cord
@PatrickOConnorrealestate
@PatrickOConnorrealestate Жыл бұрын
Yup, we just ran an exterior rated extension cord. Then we just ran the cord through a wide enough piece of conduit(PVC) where it was coming from the house outlet to have some cord protection. You might choose to dig a small trench and bury it just a few inches to keep it out of site. It's no professional setup, but it's also just a stock tank pool : )

Curious... is it necessary to ground the pump or pool being a metal structure??
@sandiegoliving8310
@sandiegoliving8310 6 ай бұрын
I don't see a need to. No electric is connected to the actual pool. The pump equipment is stored a few feet away under a covered box, and the cord I ran to it is GFI protected, just like an outlet in a bathroom that would trip immediately if there was any issue etc... Thanks for watching! Of course, Best practice may be to ground everything but I didn't

If you paint the whole thing with polymer paint that becomes a plastic once set, you will not have problems with rust and your pool will last for many many years.

Hi! What size hole saw? And why butyl tape vs. silicone water proof caulking? Thanks!
@sandiegoliving8310
@sandiegoliving8310 Жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for checking! I can't remember the exact size for the hole saw. I have a kit with a few diameters and I just held it up to the pipe that goes through, making sure it was just slightly bigger than the pipe that passes through.. I chose to use butyl tape because I personally like the seal it creates rather than globbing a bunch of caulking on that drips and may not create a full seal. It was just my personal preference, but I have seen many people choose to use caulking as long as it is the right kind. The tape fills all the voids and compresses into place as you tighten the pipe threads down, still holding water proof and we are around 2 years in.

Perhaps use pvc to just go up and over the side with a nice table top beer chest. If you upgrade your tank just set it on the new one.

I used your same exact set up but my system is saying error code 92. Too much salt. Any suggestions? I am really lost with this system
@PatrickOConnorrealestate
@PatrickOConnorrealestate Жыл бұрын
Hey bud! Yeah it can be a bit tricky. Two things I learned; 1. After a few months the electrodes in the salt converter get covered in like a sodium or calcification, and then it won’t work. You have to take them out and soak in vinegar overnight until that stuff all dissolves off. Blast it with a hose and clean them all off. 2. Sometimes the salt to water ratio is off and just takes some fine tuning. You have to siphon out and drain a bunch of water out of the pool and add fresh water to dilute it. That’s just a process of trial and error until it gets to the correct levels.

A thick paint labeled POR-15, paint over rust. I haven't had a need to use it but I've had friends swear by it.
