When members of Congress buy and sell corporate stocks, they’re not just padding their own personal wealth. Something more corrupt is happening. You can see it by looking closely at two major bills before Congress right now.
Both of them have bipartisan support. Both were approved out of committee. And both are considered a priority of the President’s. But only one is on the fast-track to congressional passage, while the other can’t even get a floor vote.
Why? Last summer, More Perfect Union started a project that had not been undertaken in nearly a decade: reviewing the stock holdings of every member of the United States House and Senate. We’ve uncovered numerous, brazen examples of the corrupting influence of congressional stock ownership.
And we learned the key difference between those two bills. The one that’s set to be passed into law benefits the stock portfolios of members of Congress - and the other bill does not.

Every two to four years, somebody tries to call themselves, "The Maverick", who is going to change Washington; but once they are elected, then hit that "crack" (lobbyists), they become just like everyone else in Congress. My respect for the REPUBLICANS lies within the fact that they're not hiding; they are taking money and they're proud of it. This is the exact reason I was thinking about running for an office! Been watching it for decades as you've stated but I've recently quit drinking and remember a politician stating "you don't have to be a genius to run for office." And then it hit me... If I were in office I could create legislature that could make companies millions then I could be like David Rockefeller and own shares of all the big companies while steering the laws in a direction that could make me more rich than all the companies put together because I will have pieces of them while they fight over the scraps. There is a simple solution: Make it a rule that if you want to work in government, you aren't allowed to trade stocks. I'm not against what they have set as pay, I'm against lifetime retirement after 4 years and any members of Congress having a stock investment or immediate family members while they are serving, among other conflict of interest. They are correct in some of this, there should be a solution to them staying in Washington while they are in session, I'm not advocating for a Presidential palace, but it is true in today's times a lot of these people couldn't serve and pay for two places at a time. Looks like the adage that they have to spend so much time asking for votes for reelection is not the problem, concerned with enriching themselves is the issue. I had higher hopes for MTG, Loeffler is from Georgia and it looks like she would have known that people aren't for this. There are a lot of names not expected and a lot that were, we are in definite deep state and as Steve Bannon puts it, the uni-party is definitely not for the people.
