Stock Xbox One Controller Elite Mod Thumb Sticks And D-Pad

The longer thumbsticks are generally used for the right "aiming" stick. A longer stick gives longer travel-time for the top of your stick and therefore gives more precision. Especially when moving the cross-hair in a slight manner. Takes some getting used to, but is objectively less sensitive.

If your gonna do this I wouldn't recommend buying the full kit I got mine for $30 if I knew the LT button wouldn't work I wouldn't have bought the kit I recommend buying the d-pad separately for around $7 and you can buy sliver thumbsticks for around $3 it would look better and wont have any Interference. For further explanation I installed it yesterday and the d-pad is great not loose at all if installed correctly, the real issue is the left thumbstick it interferes with the LT button because it is Magnetic so i decided to remove the left thumbstick and replace it with the original one and now it works fine, would of love to have both elite analog sticks on my controller. But for now I'll stay with only one on the right side and dpad other than that it's fine.

Even though it isn't necessary, it does serve a very good purpose and is worth the tiny investment. I have been using 2 stock Xbox One controllers along with my Elite controller and the the thumbsticks on my Elite controller feel like new even with double the use. The metal thumbsticks do not wear like plastic thumbsticks with hardcore gaming use. And I absolutely love those long sticks for accuracy in shooters.

Thanks for the video, it helped me do the reverse. Have an Elite controller with wobbly left stick, replaced it with standard controller thumbsticks without needing to mod anything.

The magnet in the left thumbstick can interfere with the hall effect sensor for L2. Effectively triggering L2 when you push the left thumbstick all the way up. You can see a visual representation of this in the controller settings/diagnostic settings in Windows 10. The fix for this is mowing the magnet in the left trigger up a bit and gluing it in place. Effectively offsetting the magnetic field introduced by the new magnet.

I installed it couple days ago and the d-pad is great works well, the real issue is the left thumbstick it interferes with the LT button because it is Magnetic so i decided to remove the left thumbstick and replace it with the original one and now it works fine, would of love to have both elite analog sticks on my controller. Its a Worthwhile mod. I have both the Elite and Normal controllers I bought the same kit to replace the nubs on the Elite as they get worn and slippy, These fit on the original, I also modded my original with it too, They also come in various colours which is cool if you want to match a scheme on the controller. you dont miss much from the elite controller just the back paddles which to be honest are a bit intrusive until you get used to em, They click to easily and often Knife the air when trying to shoot people in Cod games lol, Another good thing is you can buy the nubs on there own so after the mod is done you can revive worn nubs easily without cracking open the controller again :D

The metal thumbsticks are amazing, but the elite d-pad it's a tiny bit shorter than the regular one, thus making the cross a little bit submerged to the controller and it makes the diagonals harder for me :( I switched back to the regular dpad and I'm thinking of a way to make it higher.

I have the Xbox One Wireless Controller for Windows. Last week it developed a problem on the left stick. I am not sure these are the correct words, but here goes: Basically the top (pillow? grip? cap?) of the left stick got all cut up. Needless to say it floats all over the place and so I removed it. Important note. The analog stick works fine, just I don't have the soft part anymore and it kinda hurts to use after a while. Is there a replacement part for that? Thank you in advance!

Anders Zidane I got this kit to replace the thumb sticks for destiny and the disc d pad for killer instinct and samurai shodown and I have to say - I am not impressed with the quality. I’m Mine we’re exactly the same as ETAs and the D pad which was really the main feature for me did not register and was very loose. The green magnet cover was awful and not cut the right way so I said screw it and kept my old one in. The sticks are very loose, more so than the actual elite controller and they are really finicky...sometimes they work fine, sometimes they are drawn towards each other because of the polarity and then there’s the triggers that have a very strange clicky, loose and uneven feel to them. I also bought an FPS Strike Commander in order to make it truly wired and remap the paddles to reload and run and that did work out pretty well. It was a fun project but last week I bought an elite controller despite going through 3 of the pieces of junk already because they are so much easier on my hands. I only have 15% use of my left hand so i experiment with lots of stuff like this to see if I can help get myself up to par with my competiton and feel comfortable gaming. If you have the money it’s totally worth refurbishing your own Xbox Controller to say you did but I don’t recommend it otherwise.

These should just be stock I have warranty replaced over 12 controller now all but one had the left stick wear a groove into the shaft from springing in games. Was thinking scuff until I came across this and I recently purchased the elite series 2 to return in the next day because it was defective.

Yeah, you gotta make some adjustments. The internal piece is a bit more loose than the regular d-pad plus the metalic parts are a little loose as well. Both are fixable so it's a good deal for the money. Microsoft doesn't sell those parts so if you don't have a broken Elite controller to cannibalize, your only option is buying these Chinese bootleg parts.

So been looking into this mod from this manufacturer and other which all have the same issue. The magnet from the left stick interferes with the left trigger which uses a magnetic sensor. I didn't come across anything solutions to this not sure if anyone looked into magnetic shielding but this really would be nice to get otherwise.

@@keenanmurrayvlogs4912 you could maybe find some magnetic shielding tape and place it between the trigger sensor and stick. I personally perched the normal aluminum sticks and now both sticks have a strong wonder down. You also have to use thumb grips with them because the aluminum is to slippery on it's own.

Fortnite28 the metal on the sticks doesn’t wear on the circle surrounding the joystick like the plastic ones do making it a little smoother...you can also change out the joysticks at anytime

Most people do not wreck their controllers. The problem with the XBone Gamepads is, they are super cheap in quality. Especially the death/failure rate of the XBone Elite Controller, is way too high for its 150 bucks price tag. That is 1/2 the price of the entire console! Its ridiculous! The Elite Controller was also, and still is based on the first XBone Controller Generation. They're a Failure by Design! The plastic Triggers are prone to snap in less than 6 month of normal gaming. Because everything is just cheap plastic crap. Exactly what happened to my cousins Elite. My nephew returned two XBone S gamepads already, because the Anal-Sticks had either huge dead zones or just wobbled, just by waving the gamepad around. Not shaking, just waving. This is unacceptable product quality. The 360 gampad was already as bad as it is. But it was a consistent problem. XBone pads are ridiculously random in their production quality. Do i have to mention, that i have a $10 dual schock knock off, that has a 1K times better DigiPad than the 360 controller? When i play emulation, i use that cheap knock off, because the digipad just works.

This kit, although it looks like a good idea, it definitely SUCKS! The D-Pad knob is not deep enough or magnets are too thick. Result is that the cross doesn't stay anchored in the center that means that it is mostly unusable. My original thumbstick are like new, so I bought 2 for my controllers mainly for the D-Pad. Result is that I trashed 40 euros. DO NOT BUY IT!
