What is the max depth of stockfish 16.1

Theoretically, the engine can think up to an unlimited depth! Just the only issue is that it takes exponentially more time for the engine to think the higher the depth gets (which is why chess is not yet *solved*) 50 depth is a nice benchmark for me - it takes 10-20 minutes per move which is bearable :) But I give the engine a fixed time rather than fixed depth in most of my newer videos since it doesn’t hinder the engine’s capabilities as much

Hi, if Rxg2 then Black can actually respond by sacrificing the rook on h3!! -If White accepts this rook sacrifice, then they get mated in 3 moves (Qh6+ leads to mate in three) -If White declines this rook sacrifice, then Black can still play Qh6, doubling up on the h-file with a decisive attack :D

It definitely took some time for Stockfish to get an advantage ! I believe the max engine has access to book moves so it can soundly play through the opening phase. But once the kingside attack started gaining momentum there was no stopping Stockfish 😆

Hi, I’m running a bit of a budget setup using an Acer Aspire 5 (8GB ram, 512GB SSD), with an AMD Ryzen 7 3700U dual-core processor - with additional +16GB RAM stick. The 50 depth games take a while but I can just leave computer on until it finishes, then edit time between moves :D
